Valentine's Day Post Office Drop Box | 3D Paper Mail Box/Treat Box | SVGCuts

Hey everyone!

Back again with another mailbox creation for the teacher! This time this super cute Valentine's Day Post Office Drop Box comes from SVGCuts Valentine Mailboxes SVG Kit and the little letters are files from Hearts Aflame SVG Kit

This project was super easy to put together and fairly quick. I think I took longer choosing the papers than assembling it! It's a good last-minute treat box if you don't have lots of time to waste ;)

I was so excited to use my Simon Says Stamp Teacher dies, that came in a few days ago.
I'm always making teachers things and this little die will come in so handy!

To finish the back I added a couple of die-cut hearts and stamped one of them with a sentiment from the Love Stamp and Cut Set from Hero Arts.

Valentine's Day Mail House | 3D Paper Valentines House/Gift Box | SVGCuts

Are you ready for Valentine's Day?!
I most definitely am NOT :(  Still working on some last-minute projects!

Every year I like to make something special for the teachers. This year one of them will be receiving this super cute Valentine's Day Mail House!

How CUTE is that!?! LOVE it!

Gift,3D,SVGCuts,ilovedoingallthingscrafty,3D House,Fleurette Bloom Stamps,SVG Files,Valentine's Day Mailbox,teacher Gift,Cricut,handmade art,Paper crafts,

The awesome files I used to make this beauty comes from SVGCuts Hugs and Kisses SVG Kit and the Hearts Aflame SVG Kit.

Gift,3D,SVGCuts,ilovedoingallthingscrafty,3D House,Fleurette Bloom Stamps,SVG Files,Valentine's Day Mailbox,teacher Gift,Cricut,handmade art,Paper crafts,

The stamp I used on the front door comes from Fleurette Bloom's Happy Days Stamp Set.
Paper from Pink Paislee - Pen Pals

Gift,3D,SVGCuts,ilovedoingallthingscrafty,3D House,Fleurette Bloom Stamps,SVG Files,Valentine's Day Mailbox,teacher Gift,Cricut,handmade art,Paper crafts,

As you can see I altered the house a little by adding a slit to the roof of the house from  Hugs and Kisses SVG Kit. To create this you must add the same slit line to the roof panel and each roof liner (top and inside piece). You will have to ungroup some files to be able to do this and copy the opening in the exact same spot on each piece. Regroup everything once you are done.  Really easy, just make sure the opening is wide enough for the letters!

Gift,3D,SVGCuts,ilovedoingallthingscrafty,3D House,Fleurette Bloom Stamps,SVG Files,Valentine's Day Mailbox,teacher Gift,Cricut,handmade art,Paper crafts,

There is still plenty of time to create one of these for yourself or as a gift for someone!
Hope this has inspired you to create your own Valentine's Day Mail House :)

Love is in the Hot Air Balloon Shaker Card

Hey everyone!

Finally got around to creating something for Valentines Day! YAY for LOVE! Riding a Hot Air Balloon is still on my bucket list... maybe one day soon I will get to do that!

These cute hot air balloons and cloud stamps I used come from Fleurette Bloom's Up, Up and Away Stamp Set. I used my Spectrum Noir markers to vividly colour them in. The arched banner is a PnC (print and cut) file from her Love is in the Air Hot Air Balloon SVG Kit done with the Silhouette Cameo. I also used the Spellbinder pierced Rectangle dies to create the Shaker portion of the card.

To finish off the card, I added another stamped sentiment to inside panel. The hearts are also from the Up, Up and Away Stamp Set and the sentiment comes from the Happy Day Stamp Set.

Hope you "LOVE" my Love is in the Hot Air Balloon Shaker Card and are inspired to create one of your own!

FOR A CHANCE TO WIN the Up, Up, and Away Stamp Set
leave a comment on my FB page under the corresponding post and in Fleurette Bloom's FB Page... Good LUCK!

Simple DIY Stamping Tool

Hey All!

Today I want to share with you this quick stamping tool I whipped up in under 10 minutes!
What does this tool do you may ask? Well, it allows you to stamp an image multiple times in the exact same spot, just in case the ink didn't go on dark enough or crisp enough that first time!

I have wanted to get myself the MISTI tool for the longest time. But, with the plummeting Canadian Dollar and the outrageous shipping costs I thought I would hold off for now.  In the mean time the DIYer in me decided to make something that could get me started. For the amount of stamping I do this is perfect for me and it is for my own personal use! So with supplies I had around the house I made my self this really Simple DIY Stamping Tool.

I have put together a video tutorial for those that would like to make something similar :)

Here are the supplies I used in case you missed it in the video:
CD case
grid paper
page protector or/laminator
craft fun foam
adhesive
pliers
scissors
paper slicer

Hope this has inspired you to try stamping and maybe even create you own little stamping tool!

Thanks for stopping by!

50th Wedding Anniversary Card

Today I have another simple Wedding Card to share with you all. This time it is a Golden 50th Anniversary Card for some dear family friends of ours. Congratulations to the Golden couple, wishing them many more happy years together. So honoured to have been a part of their day!

To recreate this card I used a white 5 x 6.5 inch card base.
Gold Signature Foil Glitter Paper from Recollections.
The quilted embossing folder I used comes from We r Memory Keepers.
Rubber Mounted Stamp by Kelli Panacci from Hampton Art (Micheal's).
Orchid Die from Spellbinders.
Versamark Stamp Pad.

I have to tell you guys a funny story... well at the time I just about cried!
When it was time to heat and melt the embossing powder that I had stamped, I went to switch on my Martha Stewart Heat Gun and the dang thing was dead! I quickly went into panic mode...  I thought I had to scrap it and start again just using regular ink. Then I had a light bulb moment!!! I remembered my husband telling me that he had bought a heat gun for himself a while ago. So I quickly ran to the garage and flung all his cabinets open until I found it, the Black and Decker 1350 Dual Temp Heat Gun.

A little overkill for my purposes but holy, did I fall in love! The embossing powder melted instantly, didn't even need to preheat the thing and I even had in on the lowest setting. I since have told my husband I was keeping it in the craft room, LOL! So ladies, you may want to see if your husband's have one of these puppies in their stash and test it out... you may not want to give it back ;)

Here is a closer look at the embossed gold lettering which almost which almost didn't happen!

Hope this simple Wedding card has inspired you to create one of your own. This would also make a great Valentine's Day card by changing up the colours and maybe using some hearts and a rose.

Thanks for stopping by!

Karen's Quilted Wedding Cake and Card

Hi Everyone :)

Sorry it has been a while since my last post... I was starting to feel a bit of blogger's guilt! I have been doing quite a bit of crafting lately but haven't had much time to post any of it. Hopefully I will be able to soon ;)

So today I want to share with you all my first EVER wedding cake! My friend Karen, (the bride who I've worked with for many years) had asked me for a simple quilted ivory cake with a hot pink rose. Well, what the bride wants is what the bride must get! I must admit I was a bit nervous with this one as there is very little room for error when working with white cakes, plus it's a WEDDING cake! Eeek, talk about pressure! That's why I could never do this full time... too stressful, lol! But in the end I was very pleased with how it turned out!

For those interested in what is actually inside the cake
Top layers- Vanilla & Chocolate flavoured - baked in two 6 inch round pans.
Bottom layer - Vanilla & Chocolate flavoured - baked in a 10 inch round pans.
Entire cake was frosted with vanilla butter cream icing and covered with fondant.
Topper from Precious Moments.

To go along with the cake I also made Karen and Alan a simple card.
The quilted embossing folder I used comes from We r Memory Keepers.
Stamp from Studio G
Orchid Die from Spellbinders

Congratulations Karen and Alan, I wish you both the very best in your future lives together.
Hope you enjoyed and devoured the cake!

Thanks for stopping by Everyone!
Hope this Simple Wedding Cake and Card has inspired you as well :)

Christmas Door Card - PixScan/Scanner Silhouette Tutorial

Come and knock on my door...
We've been waiting for you...

Who remembers Three's Company? I don't know why but this picture below reminded me of the theme song and now it's stuck in my head, haha!

Anyways, I'm excited to share with you this really simple yet elegant door card I made using Fleurette Bloom files with one of her latest Stamp sets! The card comes from Christmas Memories SVG Kit and the stamps come from the Peace on Earth Stamp set.

Not a lot of colouring required for this project, which makes it easy to whip up a bunch of these! In case you are wondering I used my Spectrum Noir Markers, gold embossing powder and VersaMark ink.

Take a closer look.
Aren't those stamps amazing!?!
For those of you interested, Fleurette has here Stamps Sets on SALE right now!

As many of you know I am a Silhouette girl. I love my Silhouette Cameo! It does pretty much everything I have ever wanted it to do. So when the PixScan mat for the Silhouette first came out I had to have it. The results I had when I first used it were disappointing. Some of the cuts were OK, but many were way off, so for a longest time I hadn't used it.  Then through a FB Group I heard of this fantastic machine that simply scanned an image and cut it out, the Brother Scan and Cut. So for a while now I have been debating on whether or not to buy myself one as I am starting to get a little more into stamping... damned the Stamping Enabler Group, lol! After doing a bunch of research on it, it would cost me about $400 to get one to me here in Canada, plus version 2 is not available here yet! That's quite the investment!

Well, I am happy to say that I saved myself $400 by giving the PixScan mat another try! This time instead of using my phone to take the picture I actually used a scanner, and OMG what a difference that made! You see when you use a camera, there is a high chance that the image will have a slight angle to it, distorting the image once imported. You need a flat image, because a slight angle will make a lot of difference in the cut you get! Lucky for me, last weekend at Costco they had a promotion on the HP Envy 4522 for $39.99! This thing prints, scans and copies... How can I go wrong with that! All I needed was the scanner, and for $40 I was SOLD!

So once I figured out how to install the scanner, the rest was easy! Here is what I did next...
  1. Stamped my images and load them on to the PixScan mat (Use a permanent, waterproof ink if you plan on colouring them to avoid bleeding).
  2. Open the Silhouette Studio, click on the PixScan Image Icon.
  3. Place the PixScan Mat into your your scanner, ensuring that at least one of the sides of the registration marks are in the scanning field. (Don't worry if your mat is bigger than the scanner. The silhouette will stitch the two images together later.)
  4. Select Import from Scanner.
  5. Next, select your source and then Import the image (I used the WIA- option), click Scan.
  6. Now wait for it to transfer the data.
  7. You should now have an image that shows half a page loaded on a PixScan mat on the screen.
  8. If your image is larger, you may need to follow the next step. If all your image was imported ignore it and go to step 10.
  9. Flip your PixScan Mat around and scan the other side of the image, again ensuring that the other registration marks are in the scan field. Repeating steps 5-7. Once your image imports the whole image should look like it was stitched together.
  10. Now all that is left to do is trace your images, select the edges you want to cut out, and if you want some white space around them you will need to create the offsets of your images. Delete any unwanted cutlines.
  11. Load your PixScan mat into the Silhouette.
  12. Finally, send to Silhouette to cut it out. Your machine will detect the registration marks and begin cutting!

Here are my results.
SO, SO, SO, happy with it! Look at those perfect outlines/offsets! No more spending money on coordinating dies for stamps! YAY!!! And the best part was that I only spent $40!!!

Well I hope you liked my Christmas Card Door Card and that this post has helped anyone debating on whether or not to purchase the Scan and Cut machine... If you have a Silhouette, I would suggest you give your PixScan Mat another try using a scanner vs a camera. You might just end up saving a ton of money!

Thanks for stopping by!

SVGCuts Merry Maple Manor | 3D Paper House/Gift Box | SVGCuts

Hey everyone!
Are you all ready for Christmas? I'm not even close... eeek! I have been so busy with these crafty projects that I'm starting to panic because I haven't started my Christmas shopping yet :(

Anyways, let me tell you a little about today's project... This house comes from SVGCuts Maple Manor SVG Kit. If you saw the last house I did (HERE) you may have noticed it was inspired by Thienly Azim's Home For Christmas Project.... same goes for this house! This particular house is now displayed on one of the hospital units I work on. Hopefully, it will bring some JOY and smiles to the patients, visitors, and the staff I work with! I really love how this one turned out and hope they do too :)

Once again, for those interested in all the files I used here is the long list!

House - Maple Manor SVG Kit
Patio fence - Country Market SVG Kit
Windows - Townhouse Windows SVG Mini Pack
Fence - For My Valentine SVG Kit
Chimney - December Gifts SVG Kit
Greens - 3D Wintergreens  &  Spirits of Christmas Past SVG Kit
Chandelier (modified candelabra) - Gothic Flourishes SVG Collection

Here is a list of the alterations I made to the original house:

  • Windows (See Home For Christmas for instructions).
  • Added poke holes around the roofline to poke Christmas lights through.
  • Added all the files listed above to embellish the house and make it my own. You can do the same using any files you may have!
Cut out black Silhouettes and add them in front of the windows. When the house is lit up it will actually look like there are little people living inside it... Super cool!!!

Love the silhouette of this little girl with her present at the window... and how pretty is this wreath too! I'm always amazed when I am able to cut out small intricate pieces, check out these small leafy cuts, cut out perfectly on the Silhouette Cameo.

Here is a side shot of the Merry Maple Manor.

For the snow along the roofline, I used Snow-tex from DecoArt that I purchased at Micheal's. This stuff is great and dries in a few hours!

SVGCuts Mistletoe Manor | 3D Paper Christmas House | SVGCuts

Hello, my crafty Friends!

Today I have probably one of my largest projects to share with you! I'm so pleased with how it turned out, hopefully, the recipient will love it just as much!

This house comes from SVGCuts Mistletoe Manor SVG Kit, but of course, I had to add my own touches to it! I do have to give Thienly Azim lots of credit for my inspiration as well, as I have incorporated touches of her Home For Christmas project. (One of my all-time favorite SVGCuts DT projects from her, if you haven't seen it it's definitely worth checking out!)

Well, what do you think? Isn't she a beauty!?
So realistic looking... I can't believe it's made out of paper!

Christmas decoration,Gift, 3D,treat box,paper house, SVGCuts,Silhouette Cameo,ilovedoingallthingscrafty,DIY Icicles,3D House,SVG Cuts Mistletoe Manor, Cricut,Paper crafts,

For those of you interested here are all the SVGCuts kits I used:
(yup, there were lots!)

House - Mistletoe Manor SVG Kit
Patio Greens - Clara’s Christmas Strips SVG Collection
Fence - For My Valentine SVG Kit
Chimney - December Gifts SVG Kit
Porch Greens - 3D Wintergreens
Bows - SVG File 3D Bow 2/25/12
Silhouette Trees - Forest County SVG Collection

Some other alterations I made to the house was to create little holes in the roofline to poke my Christmas lights through. I also added siding panels to my copula, to match the middle floor siding.

Christmas decoration,Gift, 3D,treat box,paper house, SVGCuts,Silhouette Cameo,ilovedoingallthingscrafty,DIY Icicles,3D House,SVG Cuts Mistletoe Manor, Cricut,Paper crafts,

I wanted to create some realistic-looking icicles. Creating them was super simple!
Using a glue gun, simply apply the glue to a craft mat in a straight line as long as you need it. Then go back and attach the glue icicles to the line. If you don't have a craft mat you can also use parchment paper (any nonstick surface will work). Wait for the glue to dry completely and attach it to your project!

Christmas decoration,Gift, 3D,treat box,paper house, SVGCuts,Silhouette Cameo,ilovedoingallthingscrafty,DIY Icicles,3D House,SVG Cuts Mistletoe Manor, Cricut,Paper crafts,

I also wanted to add some realistic-looking snow. I used Snow-tex from DecoArt, which I purchased at Micheal's. This stuff is awesome! It didn't seem to warp my paper at all, and was dry within a few hours!

For the little snowballs on the trees, I used Liquid Applique. This stuff is so much fun, it's almost magical. Goes on wet, but add your heat gun to it and watch it magically puff up!

Christmas decoration,Gift, 3D,treat box,paper house, SVGCuts,Silhouette Cameo,ilovedoingallthingscrafty,DIY Icicles,3D House,SVG Cuts Mistletoe Manor, Cricut,Paper crafts,

One of my favorite touches is the Silhouette of a woman at the door. Looks like she is waving goodbye to someone!

Well, I guess that goes for me too!
Goodbye, everyone ;)

Hope you enjoyed and were inspired by my version of SVGCuts Mistletoe Manor!

Thanks for stopping by!

80's Themed Cake + Bonus Timlapse Videos

Hey Everyone ;)

I have a sweet treat for you all today... Literally!
I was asked by my BOSS a while ago to make an 80's themed Birthday Cake for her BIL's surprise 60th party. How could you say no to your boss, right? Well... she's lucky I really like her, plus she is also my friend and a great Nurse Manager!

So, check out my 80's themed cake. How RAD is that?!

Wouldn't be the 80's without a Ghetto Blaster!

Do you remember the rubix cube? I was never able to solve those suckers... I always cheated and pealed off the stickers when I got frustrated, lol!

And of course I had to use my Silhouette to add a little paper to the cake.
Love the look, plus it saved me tons of time from trying to cut out intricate shapes and letters out of fondant!

Oh, and what about Pac Man?
It must have been one of the first video games I had ever played as a little girl!

Well for those interested in what is actually inside the cake
The rubix cube is made up of rice krispies treats
Top layers- Vanilla & Chocolate flavored - baked in two 6 inch round pans
Bottom layer - Vanilla & Chocolate flavored - baked in a 10 inch round pans
Entire cake was frosted with vanilla butter cream icing and covered with fondant.

As a BONUS for those of you that want to see how I created the cake, I made a 2 part timelapse video to condense approximately 12 hours into a little over 12 minutes!

(Everybody always wants to know how I do it, so here you go! Enjoy!!!)

80's Cake - Part 1

80's Cake - Part 2

Hope you enjoyed my 80's Themed Cake today, even if you didn't get to eat it!
