Mermaid for Each Other Valentine Shaker Card | Studio Katia

Happy New Years EVE Everyone!!! I still can't believe this year is over, it feels like I just blinked and the year was done. Can't wait to see what 2019 will bring. 

For my last card of the year, I have created this valentine shaker card featuring the cute Mermaid for Each Other stamps and Coordinating Dies. How cute are these little mermaid people 😍

CARD DETAILS

To begin this card I stamped out the mermaids onto Bristol paper and colored them in using Zig markers and then used the Coordinating dies to cut them out. Next, I die cut the top panel using first the Loops Creative Die and then the large frame die from the Darling Ribbons and Frames Die and then glued the acetate to the backside. I then played around to figure out where the little merpeople were going to peek through and glued them in place with foam to the acetate. 

To create the underwater background I blended together a bunch of blue colored distress oxide inks from darkest to lightest leaving the top almost white. I then placed the Light Ray Stencil at the top of the ocean line and used a baby wipe to lift off some of the colors from the paper. To finish off the background I misted the paper with water and picked it up with a paper towel to create the look bubbles underwater.

The shaker mix consists of Silver Polka Fusion and Majestic Sequins plus some Just Chunky Confetti Glitter. Also for fun, I added Iridescent Bubbles onto the top of the card.

The sentiment was stamped onto a piece of paper that I had die cut using the small rectangle frame from the Dotted Patterns Set 2, and then die cut it again to create a smaller rectangle. The scripted Silver "love" comes from the Spring Bouquet Dies set and the heart was die cut from the Dotted Scalloped Oblong die set, to which I finished off by adding some glossy accents too.

Happy 2019 New Years Rainbow Bokeh Card | Honey Bee Stamps

Can you believe 2018 is almost over!?! I sure can't 😲 

Not sure about the rest of you but this year has just flown by in a blink of an eye! I have so much to be thankful for this year, especially for all the opportunities this Crafty Community has brought me. With that said, I am looking forward to 2019 and hope I can figure out how to better balance work, family and crafting so that it won't feel like I am burning a candle at both ends.😵

For today's card, I wanted to create a party on paper and hopefully, that comes across.

CARD DETAILS

To create this card, I began by blending out distress oxide inks onto Bristol paper in somewhat of diagonal rainbow order (see links below for colors). I then used all of Polka Dot Background Stencils to create the Bokeh effect on the rainbow background by simply using a baby wipe to lift color from the circles. 

Once the background was completely dry, I used the dotted pattern stamp from the Bitty Patterns stamp set to add confetti to the edge of the background and then used gold embossing to heat set the sprinkles.

Next, I ran the background panel through the die cutting machine with the largest Deckle Edge Frame Die and then attached it to an A2 card base using foam tape. The letters I used comes from the Bee Bold Alphabet Dies and the numbers come from the Bee Bold Numeric Dies which were all diecut three times, stacked and glued together.

This Happy 2019 New Years Card may look like it was a lot of work but it was actually super easy to make and I love the results and hope you do too!
