Bibi’s Butterflies Collection Cards | Spellbinders

Hello, my friends. Happy Monday and Happy Valentine's Day! Can you feel the Spring in the air yet? Everything has been melting around here, we have had the strangest winter this year. I hope it's a sign that spring is near for us. We always have such long winters.

Today I have three cards to share with you featuring my friend Bibi's Butterflies Collection. I am so happy for Bibi and love the creative collection she designed, perfect for so many occasions as you will see here.

CARD RECIPE

This first card features the gorgeous Delicate Butterflies Etched Dies. To make this pretty card I die cut from white cardstock two of each of the butterflies from the set. To create the I then rainbow layer of the butterfly, I ink blended a whole panel first mixing yellow, pink, and blue ink to create a rainbow blend. I then die cut the base of the wings from the panel and then assembled each butterfly.

To the top layer of the wings, I add sparkle using Liquid Pixie Dust. Hard to see from the photo but they are so pretty in real life. For the bodies, I added a top layer that I die cut using gold foil paper. Next, I created the gold foiled sentiment using the Everyday Sentiments II with the Hot Foil System. The rest was assembling it all together onto the card panel and adding gold foil pearls.

For this next card, I used the Butterfly Card Creator Etched Dies. Onto an A2 side folding card base I glued half of the body of the butterfly that was scored down the middle of the butterfly and folded back. This card displays beautifully as you can see below. It will fold flat but it does have a bit of bulk to it and you will need to use a larger envelope as half the body of the butterfly hangs over the edge.

I created the rainbow flowers the same as I did with the previous butterflies. I then used green ink to blend out the leaves. I finished the flower centers using gold pearls, and also added them to the tiny antenna tops. Here again, I used the Everyday Sentiment II to add my foiled greeting.

Once you open up the card, you are surprised with the pop-up butterfly surprise. This was done using another one of Bibi's sets, Pop-Up Butterfly Etched Dies. So fun to see it pop from the center when you open up this card!

Here again, I used the same three inks to blend out the wings. I also used the same foiled sentiment set and added the sentiment strip to the tip of the wing to also make it pop off the paper.

For this third and final card, I used Bibi's So Many Butterflies Etched Dies to create this frameless shaker card or edge-to-edge card as some call them. To each wing layer, I blended out a different color on the wings. On the pink layer, I applied some glimmer paste using the dot design from the Geometric Butterfly Stencil. The white detail wing layer comes from the Pop-Up Butterfly Etched Dies, I just cut the center tabs off. I love how this whole collection works so well together!

To the card panel, I gold foiled the frame using the Essential Duo Lines Rectangles Foil Plates. I then created the shaker pocket using clear packaging and filled it with tiny star sequins I had in my stash. Watch this video if you want to see how these pockets are made 👉HERE.

To finish this card, I then added all the elements to the front of the shaker panel using a strong adhesive, and then once again added a sentiment from the same Everyday Sentiment II foil plates.

I hope these beautiful Spring rainbow-inspired cards made you smile. I had so much fun playing with this collection and hopefully, they inspired you. A special thank you to Bibi Cameron and Spellbinders for inviting me to create with her gorgeous collection!

Thank you for stopping by and until next time... Happy Crafting!

Whaley Cool Rainbow Inspired Friendship Cards | Hero Arts | MMHK 02/22

https://shrsl.com/37kwj

Happy Friday Friends!

I hope you have all had a wonderful week. I have been busy crafting away with the My Monthly Hero Kit February 2022 from Hero Arts. This month's release is inspired by the art of the Surrealist masters and the magical imagery of dreams. Dreams can be so strange. It makes you wonder how and why sometimes you dream such weird events. Guess it is what inspired some masterpieces by many artists. Take a look at this month's kit valued at $75 if sold separately for only $34.99.
KIT INCLUDES:
• 6” x 8” Clear Stamp Set
• 15 Coordinating Frame Cuts
• 2 Sheets of Black Watercolor Paper (5.5" x 8.5")
• Watercolor Dot Dream Palette (18 Dots)
• Water Flow Brush

So let's take a look at some Whaley Cool Rainbow Inspired Friendship Cards that I made using the February Add-Ons.

CARD RECIPES

To begin, I die-cut the whale from the Dream Accessories Fancy Dies and then used Copic Markers to color it in.

Next, I found a background I had made a while ago using Atelier Reinkers, that I thought would make a great background for this card. If you have the Hero Arts Reactive Ink Reinkers, you could create a similar background by saturating a watercolor piece of cardstock with water and then adding the colors.

I then blended out the edge of the clouds using coordinating ink to match the background and glued the pieces together.

The greeting comes from a couple of sentiment stamps from the Dream Messages set, that was stamped out using Intens-ified Black Ink Pad.

I then embellished the card using sequins and glitter.

For this next card once again, I had pre-made the background this time using Atelier Inks. Onto the background, I then used the Swirls and Dots Bold Prints Rubber stamp to add white lines using Unicorn Pigment Ink then heat setting them with White Detail Embossing Powder.

Next, I used the Watercolor Dot Dream Palette from Daniel Smith set that is included in the My Monthly Hero Kit February 2022 to add some extra detailing to the background.

I once again die cut the whale from the Dream Accessories Fancy Dies, this time only coloring in the black of the eye.

The sentiment comes from the You Sparkle stamp set, which I stamped onto black cardstock and heat embossed in white then fussy cut.

For a touch of sparkle, I used the Sparkle Clear Lacquer Pen to add texture and shine to the dots in the design.

Sealed with a Kiss Card | Make Ahead Wax Seals | Honey Bee Stamps

Sealed with a Kiss Card,Make Ahead, Wax Seals, Honey Bee Stamps,Card Making, Stamping, Die Cutting, handmade card, ilovedoingallthingscrafty, Stamps, how to,pattern Paper, pre made

Happy Monday my friends!

Today I have a bit of a different Valentine's Day card to share with you. Honey Bee Stamps released a wax seal product line with their latest release and I finally had a chance to play with them.

There are many ways to melt wax melts. Probably the most traditional way is to do it using a wax melting spoon over a flame. I am impatient and found that took too long, lol. So I used my heat gun, which worked well too but still not as fast as I would like. And that is when I got the idea to use my Hot Foil System to melt the wax. Although the melting part wasn't as quick either, this method yielded more seals because you were making multiples, which ended up saving time in the end.

After experimenting with various types of papers and materials on what to melt the wax melts onto, I discovered the best way to do it was to use tin foil strips. I tried sticker paper, wax paper, acetate, silicone and found the best results happened when I used the tin foil as it transferred the heat the best and released the wax well once it was cool.

To melt wax using the Hot Foil System
  • I turned the machine on and waited until the green light was on.
  • Next, I cut pieces of tin foil large enough to fit two melted wax seals as I only have two stampers, and place the tin foil onto the base of the Hot Foil System.
  • I then added two melts to each tin strip.
  • Once the first melt had almost melted I added a second wax melt to the middle of the melted wax. I found two wax melts were enough for a seal. (If you like them a little thicker you can try using three melts per seal).
  • Remove one tin foil strip from the Hot foil system at a time as the wax hardens quickly, and stamp the wax using the stamper. I have two stampers, (a rose and a heart stamper) and that is why I only did two seals per tin strip.
  • Once the wax is cool (about 15-20 seconds) remove the stamper to reveal the results.
  • Repeat process with the next seals.
  • Peel seals from foil base, and store them for later use.
TIPS:
  • If your seal doesn't turn out well, you can always remelt it and restamp it over and over again.
  • If you see bubbles in the wax, it means the wax is too hot. I didn't see them using the foil system, but did with the heat gun and candle.
  • You can make seals ahead of time for larger projects such as wedding invitations or other events.
  • Use a strong adhesive to secure the pre-made wax seals in place. Like double-sided tear tape or strong liquid glue. If using glue, it will take longer to dry in place but it does give you wiggle room to move them around.
CARD RECIPE

This card uses the Hugs & Kisses Wax Melts as well as the white wax from the Tuxedo Melts. All I did was glue them in place using Bee Creative Glue. The liquid glue gave me the extra time to move them around as I was trying to space them as evenly as possible.

Before adding the wax seals in place, I had stamped the sentiment that was heat embossed in white in the center of a black layer of cardstock using a stamp that comes from the Sealed Love Stamp Set. The black panel was then glued to another layer of pattern paper from the Hugs And Kisses Paper Pad.

To create the coordinating envelope I added a Pearl Wax Seal to the flap of a Hugs And Kisses A2 Envelope and finished it with another stamp from the Sealed Love Stamp Set

I have made an IG Reel that will be showing you how this card and the melts were made over on Instagram, so be sure to check it out there or click the Reel image below.

Hope this project inspired you to give wax seals a try. I love the extra touch they add to the envelope or use them as I did to embellish an entire card front.

Thank you for stopping by and until next time... Happy Crafting!
