Freakin' Awesome Snarky Stamps 3X3 Cards

Hi Guys!

Today I want to share some really fun quick 3x3 cards I made using a couple of Snarky Stamp Sets created exclusively for Paper Issues. I have had these for a while now and have been dying to try them out! Check out the Snarky Stamps sets below...  the stuff you can come up with is endless!

Anyways, I made these 5 piece sets for some colleagues of mine at work. I'm sure they will get a kick out of them as they are not your typical greeting card quotes!

Hoping that no one takes offense to them as they are meant for laughs!

Here are a few close ups of each card.

Here is a pic of the back of the card. I have had this Justrite wood block stamp for years and am just starting to use it now... I'm such a craft hoarder! Yup, freakin' rights, LOL! ;)

Hope this has inspired you to be real and create your own Snarky Cards, just remember they aren't meant for everyone, and hope you liked them anyways ;)

Thanks for stopping by!

Simple Blue and Green Birthday Party Theme - Tomas' 11th Birthday!

This past weekend my son Tomas celebrated his 11th Birthday.  So today I would like to invite you all to our house for a peak at how I prepared for our family party!

Other than a few store bought decor pieces everything was pretty much DIY!

For parties like this it's just easier to go with paper plates and cups... who wants to do dishes?!? So much easier and adds lots of color to the room!

The banner and numbers were created with the Silhouette Cameo. My go to machine for all my party decor... what was life like before my Cameo?!? ... well, everything was store bought and not personalized!

The paper tissue garland banner was another DIY project. SO easy, you can find lots of tutorials online!

Pictured below is what my basement looked like before the family arrived.

What's a party with out a Cake? Here is how I set up my cake table!

I also made some cake pops and oreo truffles for the table.
For the blue cake pops I used marble cake and the green ones were lemon cake flavored.
I love how you can find such fun straws to coordinate with any color theme. I found these at Micheal's.

Thank you treat tags for the kids were also created using the Cameo.

Want to know how I kept the wooden letter T's from falling? Here is an iphone pic I took... I just hot glued a toothpick to the back as a support! Clever right? They never feel down once! ;)

I also found these large tissue paper rosettes at Micheal's and then made some smaller ones to fill in the spaces and create a backdrop for the cake. Here is a link to an older post of how I make my rosettes.

Speaking of cake...
Here is the fun cake I made to coordinate with the rest of the decor. I wanted to go with a simple yet modern look for the cake. I think I achieved that, love how it turned out!

Again I also used the Silhouette to create the numbers and the bunting banner for the cake toppers.

Top view of the cake.

Close up table view.

I also added some more blue and green decorations through out the rest of the living areas. Here is what our kitchen nook looked like.

Even our sun room got a little attention. Thought it would be warm enough for people to hang out up there but it turned out to be fairly cold that day :( Oh well, still looked good!

I had lots of fun decorating our staircase too!
I made a bunch of these tissue paper poms in various sizes and hung them up using fishing line. I wanted to make them look like they were suspended in mid air.  This was my favorite decoration piece! In fact, I haven't taken it down yet... I think we will enjoy it a little longer until I get sick of it, lol!

Look at suspended poms from the opening in the staircase below.

And here is my 11 year old blowing out his candles!

Hope you enjoyed a peak of Tomas' Simple Blue and Green Birthday Party theme! Maybe even a little inspired to do your own DIY party decor?!

What am I going to come up with for next year? I'm starting to run out of ideas... Good thing I have a year to think about it!

Let the Sun Shine In - Mixed Media Painting

Hello Sunshine!

It's finally Spring here, but it still looks like winter outside! Nevertheless, I can't wait for the sunny and warm Spring weather ahead :)

Today I want to share with you all my latest mixed media painting. I'm so addicted to this craft already! It's the perfect blend of paper, paint, modgepoge and embellishments.  I love how it turned out, and was super excited to give it away to a friend of mine that was in need of a little sunshine in her life! Hope that when she looks at this, it will make her day will feel a little brighter ;)

The paper I used was all scrap pieces of paper I've collected through the years of papercrafting that I had no idea what to do with. I just free hand cut out the flower. I did however use my silhouette machine to cut out the stamped letters. I finally got a chance to try out my pixscan mat. Click HERE to see what the pixscan is all about!

Hard to see from a picture, but there is so much detail and texture on this painting... I LOVE it!!!

Here is a step by step look at how the painting evolved!

I hope this has inspired my fellow paper crafters (or anyone else intersted) to try out this type of painting... If you are a crafter, I'm sure you have tones of scrap paper you could use up! For those of you wanting to try this, I would recommend watching some You Tube videos and then just go for it! You'll be amazed at what a little paint, paper, modgepoge and creativity can make!

Have you seen the latest SVGCuts, Feeling Lucky SVG Kit? If you haven't, you must!!! It was SO worth the wait :) Check it out HERE!

I immediately fell in LOVE with the Shamrock Box, and of course, had to drop everything and make it right away! Usually, I wait for Mary's how-to videos to see how to put it together, but I really couldn't wait,  LOL! It took some figuring it out but it all came together nicely :)

Growing Up Too Fast - Mixed Media Painting

For the longest time I have been wanting to paint a mixed media painting. After spending many hours watching how to You Tube videos, and much encouragement from my friend and artist Kathy Helton, I finally got the courage to try it out!  I can already tell you that I am addicted and can't wait to create my next painting!

What started off as a blank canvas and scrap pieces of paper, eventually morphed into a painting of my daughter, well her futuristic self I would say. The face I drew to use on my painting reminded me of her and so I let it guide the rest of my painting. My daughter Maia is 8 years old but sometimes she acts like shes 18, where has my baby gone?... this is happening way too fast for me! I guess this painting became a reflection of my feelings.

Well what do you think?!?
I'll tell you what I think.... I'm in LOVE with it and so is my daughter! I am SO happy with how the painting turned out :)

Hidden in the painting are the letters of my daughter's name. She hasn't found them yet and I'm not going to tell her either... one day she will realize that they are there and hopefully feel surprised.

Take a look at how the painting came together.

For those interested in the supplies I used, here is my list:
1, 9x9 canvas, scrap paper, modge podge, paint brushes, acrylic paints, scissors, stamps, ink pads, copic markers, gel pens, buttons, rhinestones, sequins, blow dryer (if you're impatient like me). Oh, and really dirty hands!

The picture below shows you what the finished painting looks like up on the wall.
I love how a really inexpensive IKEA frame completes the painting! Want to know how to do the same? Here is my secret... Take the glass off the front of the shadow box frame and place the glass behind the mat, this way you can keep the glass together with the frame if you ever what to change the picture out. Then all I did was hot glue the painting to the center of the mat. Voila, now you have a gallery like painting!
