Big Birthday Celebration Shaker Card | Honey Bee Stamps

Today's BIG Birthday Celebration Shaker Card is part of the Honey Bee Stamps Celebration Release Instagram Hop. This type of Shaker card holds a special place in my heart as they are not only fun to create but also brings immense joy when gifted, especially for celebrations. They embody the spirit of festivity all on their own! Who can resist the urge to give them a shake? Certainly not me!

CARD RECIPE

  

SHAKER POCKET

• Start with one Bee Creative A7 Shaker Pocket. TIP: for best results, bend the flaps, use a bone folder, and press down the edges to make it as flat as possible. TIP: DO NOT remove the protective layer before doing this step as it will scratch the acetate!
• Trim the background to fit inside the shaker panel. I used a paper from the new Let's Party Paper Pad. TIP: Trim the panel slightly smaller than the Shaker pocket front. I trimmed 1/8th inch off of the top and the side of this 5x7 panel.
• Create the shaker pocket by gluing 3 of the 4 tabs down. 
• Pour your shaker elements into the pocket. I used BOKEH LIGHTS Confetti and some coordinating clay circles that I found in my stash.
• Glue down the last tab to close up the Shaker Pocket.
• Peel off the protective layer. TIP: I like to just remove the layer over the tabs, while leaving the front still mostly covered with the protective layer. This will prevent any scratches or fingerprints until I am ready to add my die cuts to the front of it.
• Attach the finished pocket to the card base. TIP: for best results make sure the tape you use is strong as the acetate will try to pop up if not glued down well. I use Sticky Red Tape 1/4" and apply it as close to the edge as possible.

CARD FRONT

• Die cut and assemble the Lovely Layers: Party Hat - Honey Cuts, the Lovely Layers: Party Blower - Honey Cuts, and the Sundae from the Lovely Layers: Sweets - Honey Cuts. I used coordinating papers from the Let's Party Paper Pad to ensure a seamless and cohesive look. 
• If you still haven't removed the rest of the protective film from the front, remove it now. 
• Glue the pieces onto the acetate card front. I used Bee Creative Glue.
• To embellish the die-cut pieces, I used Let's Party Gem Stickers and glossy accents on a few elements.

SENTIMENT

• For the sentiment, I wanted to use black glitter card stock but could not find it so decided to try something else. I used the Big Birthday - Honey Cuts, I die-cut the top layer using black card stock and then rubbed Bee Creative Watermark Ink, and then used WOW Embossing Glitter BLACK GLINT to heat set it. It is difficult to see the glitter in the photo but there is lots of shine IRL.
• Add tiny glue dots to the back of the die-cut, I like to use liquid glue to allow for wiggle room, plus if there is some smudging it will dry clear. TIP: If there is lots of glue smugging or accidents, use a baby wipe to wipe off excess glue. While the area is still wet, gently wipe it with a clean microfiber dry cloth. This will take care of any streaks.
• BONUS TIP: Place a stamp block over the sentiment and allow it to dry, this will ensure the die cut is flat and allow for good adhesion to the the acetate.

Wow, not only is this the biggest shaker card I have made, but also the most ever TIPS I have shared in making one on a blog post.

Happy Holiday Full Panel Shakers | Honey Bee Stamps

Merry Christmas my Crafty Friends and Happy New Year as this will be my last post of the year!

For today's post, I have a few fun shakers to share featuring goodies from Honey Bee Stamps inspired by the latest Holiday Wishes Paper Pad.

CARD RECIPE

Background - Holiday Wishes Paper Pad

HAPPY - Happy Happy Happy A2 Cover Plate 

NEW YEAR - Bee Bold Alphabet Dies

Shaker Pocket Panel - DIY from Acetate or use plastic wrapping 

(watch the video of the original DIY Full Panel Shaker) 

Shaker Bits - Mixed from supply stash to coordinate

• Trim your background panel to A2 size. I used the pattern paper from the Holiday Wishes Paper Pad but you can definitely create your own.
• Place the panel into the acetate shaker panel with the pattern side facing down and the adhesive tabs facing up (if you don't have a pre-made acetate cover you can DIY your own with acetate or some recycled plastic from old packaging).
• Secure 3 of the sides to the panel to create the shaker pocket using strong adhesive tape. 
• Fill with your shaker pocket with bits and bling and seal the last tab. 
• Adhere the panel to a card base using a strong adhesive.
• Add the die cuts to the front of the panel.

Here are a few more examples. Using the MERRY and a sentiment from the Mini Messages: Holiday Stamps die cut using the Mini Messages Dies. 

This next Christmas Shaker features the Merry Christmas from the Bitty Buzzwords: Holidays Dies and the greenery from the Lovely Layers: Candy Cane Dies and Decorative Star Layering Frames Dies.

Making shakers this way is much easier than using foam tape. The hardest part is actually photographing them as they are so reflective, lol!

Birthday Balloon Shaker Card | Honey Bee Stamps

Hello friends and Happy 2023! 

Yes, this is my first post of the New Year, so I wanted to wish you all the best and thank you all for your support over the years. 

EYE UPDATE: As I have mentioned recently I have been struggling with the vision in my left eye, I barely see anything out of it now. What I do see is mostly shapes and colors, no detail. Because of that, I have been limiting my screen time. For now, I am patching my left eye to avoid straining it when I am online, and still trying to figure out how to decrease the stress on my good eye. I am hoping my left-side vision will stabilize and improve, I just don't want it to get worse. Thankfully, I have a great team of doctors that are following me closely and I am so thankful for all the support I have received. Don't worry I will still be creating just less often, so I am hoping you still will stick with me.

If you saw my last post, you will recognize the similarities between the two backgrounds. I loved my last background so much that I had to recreate the rainbow background again, but this time using balloons from Honey Bee Stamps. Birthday cards are definitely my favorite cards to make and shakers just make the best birthday cards because they are like a party on their own. 

CARD RECIPE

• To begin, I used one of the stencils from the Layering Balloon Stencils and started by blending the yellow ink in the center, followed by the pink ink on top and then the blue on the bottom. When you overlap with the previous color it results in a rainbow blend. Repeat the process with the top layer of the stencil. Use light pressure when blending to create somewhat of a transparent effect.
• Once the background is done, add double-sided tape to the back and secure 3 of the shaker pocket tabs. I filled the pocket with Bokeh Lights Confetti and sealed the last tab. Remove the protective plastic layer from the pocket if it has one.
• Attach the finished shaker pocket to a card base.

• Using Rainbow Glimmer Foil, I foiled stamped the Happy Birthday Plate from the Foil Script: Wishes Hot Foil Plate/Dies and then die cut it using the coordinating die.
• Use glue to secure the sentiment to the front of the shaker, and voila, how easy was this birthday card!?

A card like this would be easy to mass-produce and have on hand for upcoming birthdays. Change up the colors to make switch things up and make the cards more personal. I think I may have to take my own advice and make some for my stash as I am always running low.

Ocean Themed Frameless Shaker Cards | Honey Bee Stamps | Perfect Day Instagram Hop

Hello my friends and welcome back, it feels like it's been a while since my last post.

All three of these frameless/infinity shaker cards have the Layered Waves Stencils in common. This time I got 3 cards from one technique. The technique is actually simple, rather than wiping or washing your stencils after the ink blending is done for the first card background, spray the stencils and pick up the watered-down ink with a card panel. I'll explain more with the next card.

CARD RECIPE

• Ink blend the background panel using Oxide inks with the Layered Waves Stencils. I used Tumbled Glass, Mermaid Lagoon, Chipped Saphire, and Blueprint Sketch Oxides.
• The sea life comes from the new Ocean Deep Scene Builder Dies that I also ink blended and then added details to them using Copic markers and a white gel pen.
• For the bottom of the card, I tore a piece of kraft cardstock and then added Copic maker details.
• The stamp on the background panel comes from the Seas The Day stamps set done in Intense Black Ink.
• To assemble this card I first attached the turtle to a clear thread and secured it with tape on the back of the turtle. I then wrapped the ends around the panel, leaving a little slack for up and down movement when the card is shaken. I also glued down any elements that I wanted to be on the inside of the shaker.
• Next, I used a piece of cellophane plastic for the card front. For a tutorial on a DIY frameless shaker click HERE.
• Once the pocket was created I then filled it with shaker bits and closed the pocket and glued it to the card base.
• To finish off this card I then added the front sea life to the bottom of the card. The "sand" hides most of the shaker bit until it is shaken.

These next, bonus cards were created using the same process as the first one. The backgrounds however were the result of spraying down each of the layers of the stencils used to make the previous card. As you can see this next card uses the top layer of the stencil. When you spray the stencil down the results create a water-colored background look. TIP: place a paper towel under the stencil before you spray the water. Make sure the stencil is saturated to give you solid lines. Remove the paper towel and then press the cardstock panel into the stencil. Avoid moving the cardstock for a clean transfer. Allow to dry.

For the next few cards, I used the new Lovely Layers: Seashore Dies. The frameless shaker was created by simply wrapping the backgrounds and filling the pocket with Bokeh Lights Confetti.

To the front of the shaker, the "sand" was created from a torn piece of kraft cardstock and then various Colors of Copic Dots were added to the sand. The shells from the Lovely Layers: Seashore Dies were ink blended and then glued together using foam dots for dimension. 

For the sentiments, I used white pigment ink to stamp out the sentiments from Seas The Day and then heat set them using white embossing powder. I then used the coordinating dies Seas The Day Dies.

I love these cards sooooo much! The shaker bits remind me of the foam in the ocean waves.
