Morning Glory Box Card | Mother's Day Card | SVGCuts

Hi all!

As promised yesterday, today I am sharing with you the card I made for my Mother-in-law for Mother's Day. This beautiful SVG file comes from SVGCuts Country Market SVG Kit. I thought this box card was the perfect Mother's Day card for someone that loves flowers, which my MIL does!

Difficult to see but I added some clear Wink of Stella to the centers of flowers. So sparkly in person, this picture doesn't do them justice! The stamps I used on the sign come from Hero Arts.

Love how it turned out!

Mother's Day Retro Oven Box Card | SVGCuts

Happy Belated Mother's Day to all that celebrated Mother's Day yesterday!

I really thought about posting my cards last week but then I would have spoiled it for my mom and MIL. (I'll post my MIL card next)

So here is the card I made for my mother. How cool is that Retro Oven?

As soon as I saw SVGCuts latest Kit, World's Best Mom I had to have it!

The tea kettle is SO cute and those burners, OMG! It reminds me so much of my childhood, back in the '80s in my mom's kitchen!

The paper I used comes from Carta Bella's Homemade with Love Collection. I think they match the retro theme perfectly!

Here are a few pics from the sides and how I embellished them.

Love how the oven door opens up to the pies baking in the oven :)

To finish off the back, I added a few stamps from Hero Arts.

Hope you like my Mother's Day Retro Oven Box Card, I think this card and the rest of the cards that come from this amazing kit could be used for so many other occasion and aren't limited to Mother's Day. SO make sure you check it out!

Poppy Cards - Stamping and Masking to create different card designs

Hey Everyone!

Today it is all about Poppy Cards created with one of Fleurette Bloom's latest Stamp sets Poppies.
I've been wanting to try masking to create my own unique designs and finally got the chance! This is a great way to make the most of a stamp especially if you are like me and just getting into stamping :) The mask was done by stamping my images on some Inkadinkado Stamping Mask Paper and then using my Silhouette PixScan mat, to cut the images out. Click HERE for previous tutorial on using the PixScan.

For this card I also used her Happy Days Stamp Set. The images were stamped onto Neenah Solar White 80lbs paper using Memento tuxedo black ink.  The Happy Birthday was stamped using Versafine Onyx black and then embossed and set with Wow! Regular Clear Gloss embossing powder. I used my Spectrum Noir Markers to colour the images in (CR4, CR6, CT2, CT4, CG1,CG2). Then I used the Die-namics Wonky stitched Rectangle to frame it out. The card base is a landscape, 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" mounted onto a black piece of cardstock cut to the same size. Finished by adding some sparkle by using some Clear Wink of Stella, and some sequins.

Isn't she pretty!? Never knew I could feel this way about a card, lol!

To the inside I added the smaller poppy to the bottom corner.

For those of you that like to watch You Tube videos, here is a video I put together of during the making of this card. If you haven't yet make sure you subscribe to my channel :)

And here is another card I made using similar techniques.

For this one I used the Rectangle Stitch Die from Simon Says, Spectrum Noir Markers (CR4, CR5, CG1, CG2, BT1), White Embossing powder, and some Pretty Pink Posh clear droplets.

For this next card I also used little butterfly from Fleurette Bloom's Thank You Stamp Set.

I also used the Spectrum Noir Markers CG1, CG2, OR1, OR2, OR3, CT4, and BT1. The Stitched Circle Die from Simon Says Stamp and a Script Embossing folder from We R Memory Keepers. This Card base is a 5 1/2" Square.

Hope you have enjoyed my Poppy Cards and maybe even got a little inspired to create your own designs using the masking technique! If you do don't forget to share your creations on Fleurette Bloom's FB Page. We would love to see them :)

Confirmation Day Wrap Up | Celebrations Ideas

Hello everyone!

Just a warning that this will be a fairly lengthy post! Maybe it will make up for the lack of them recently. It has been a crazy month for me... First it was my son's 12th Birthday a few weeks ago, and just this past weekend we celebrated his Confirmation Day. So lots of parties and lots of eating!

So lets get to my crafty creations!
When I searched for Confirmation ideas on the internet, I didn't find a lot of them.
Lots of Communion ideas, but not for Confirmation. So I had to make my own up and will share them all with you today :) BTW, my Communion posts are a few of my highest viewed posts on the blog! Click HERE my son's Communion and HERE for my daughters.

Cake Topper

I'll start by sharing the cake topper I made on my Silhouette. The font I used is called Arabella, you can download it free from here. But, for those of you that want what I have already created it is all yours FREE, just keep on reading!

This cake topper cut measures 3.7 x 6.8 inches. I used 3 pieces of the black offset/shadow and one top silver layer. Then just glued them all together and attached them with hot glue to a skewer. If you want to see a similar how to video, click here (for my happy birthday topper FREE file).

So here you go, the Cake Topper file (first of 4 free files through out the post!)

Cake

Now let's move on to the cake details :)

I find masculine cakes very difficult to make as I always gravitate towards "girly" details.
That is why I went with a suit cake look. In hindsight, I could have just made it a one layer cake as this was a fairly large cake and the bottom piece wasn't even cut...
But then if I had done that, my coworkers wouldn't of enjoyed all the left over cake ;)

For those interested, here is what was inside the cake.
Top layers- Vanilla & Chocolate flavoured - baked in two 8 inch round pans.
Bottom layer - Vanilla & Chocolate flavoured - baked in a 11 inch round pans.
Entire cake was frosted with vanilla butter cream icing and covered with fondant.

So let me show you the rest of the cake now.
Elegant, yet "little" manly is what I was going for! I think I did pretty well :)

I used a metallic Silver washi tape on the cake topper, the outside of the "God Bless Tomas" label (inside - Print and Cut), the cross, and the ribbon wrapped around the top layer to coordinate everything. I didn't want to use glitter for this as it is a bit messy and this was super easy to do!

TIP:
For Creating Washi Tape Paper

To cut out the cake topper and the label offset, all you need to do is adhere the washi tape onto a piece of cardstock. Laying the washi tape down strip by strip as close as possible, making sure you completely cover the size of paper you need to cut. Press the washi tape really well into the cardstock. Load onto your machine. Do a test cut to ensure the the blade depth is correct and then cut out your pieces.

DIY Chalkboard Vinyl Sign

For the cake table I created this Chalkboard Sign. For those of you that follow me on Instagram, you probably saw the sneak peek I posted last week. Click HERE if you didn't!

Here is how I made this DIY Chalkboard sign...
  • I first created the design using the Silhouette Design Studio program.
  • Next I cut it out on white vinyl, then weeded the excess negative space.
  • Using Transfer tape/material, pick up the design from the vinyl backing by laying transfer tape (sticky part down) as straight as possible on top of the design. Give it a good rub to ensure you pick everything up nicely when you peal it back.
  • Next, I laid the design on the Chalkboard, making sure it was as level as possible.
  • Press down the cut vinyl design into the board, you may want to use a credit card to smooth down the vinyl and prevent any air bubbles.
  • Peel back the transfer material slowly ensuring the vinyl letters are stuck on to the board.
  • Finish off the board by rubbing on some chalk randomly and smudging it around with your fingers. Eh voila, your own DIY Chalkboard sign!

I will also be giving this design away FREE
As a BONUS I have also included a Communion Version of the sign.
(The version you download, says God Bless You on your Confirmation/Communion Day, you will need to add the Date)

Thank You Gifts

For each of the families that came to our celebration, I made them a really simple little "thank-you" gift. A Candle inside a Glass Cylinder. Difficult to see in the picture below, but each cylinder has a frosted vinyl cross on the front of it. I also used the same washi Silver tape and wrapped the top of each cylinder. On the inside I placed a candle and some diamond shaped crystals (I used a heat gun to melt some of the wax from the bottom of the candle and secured it to the middle of the cylinder). I also added a poem on the inside with a small piece of double sided tape. Forgot to take a picture of it but to the bottom of the cylinder I adhered a round "thank-you" from Tomas tag with the date on it. Wrapped the whole thing in cellophane and tied it with a white ribbon. Super simple, supper easy and really inexpensive! (Most items were from the Dollar Store)

And just because I love you, here is another FREEbie!

If you would like to donate, (click the 👉DONATE button on the sidebar) I will happily accept any amount you see fit. No pressure at all either :) It will just make my day that someone wants to support my passion.

Here is a closer look at the poem on the inside.
If you look closely I enlarged specific letters to spell out Tomas.

I found this poem on the internet but modified it a little to personalize it to Tomas.

"Trust in God our Guide
This Holy meal He does provide
For His wine and bread, He shares
Give Him thanks each day in Prayers"

This was all typed up in Silhouette Design Studio and then just printed out.
Then cut out using a square stitched Die.

The Godfather

The next most import person of the Confirmation Day is the Sponsor/Godfather. As a little "thank-you" from Tomas to Victor I made him a "Godfather" glass! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how it turned out!

This was done using armour etch.
Click HERE for a previous tutorial. And if you would like the FREE Godfather file click on the link below! (a few different versions included)

Tomas

And here is our little man Tomas, just before the ceremony in his cute little 3-piece suit!

And here he is again with his GodFather, as he is blessed with the gift of the Holy Spirit by our Bishop.

Last picture, I promise :)

A picture of Tomas holding his candle during the mass.
So sweet, just love him!
Proud Mommy right here :)

Hope this super lengthy blog post gave you some ideas for planning your own Confirmation Celebrations. Sorry about the length, but hopefully you can benefit from all my work and enjoy the FREEbie files I gave away throughout the post!

Some Bunny Loves Me Easter Card | SVGCuts

Happy Easter to Everyone!
A little early I know, but somewhere in the world it's already Friday :)

Been a little while since I last shared anything... took a little trip to San Francisco with my hubby last week and got back Sunday to a couple of really sick kids. They picked up a nasty stomach virus and seems so did the rest of the family. I guess it was a good thing we were gone. They are all better now, but my daughter lost 7lbs and my son lost 5 lbs in one day! Crazy!!!

Anyways back to my post!
Today I want to share some really cute Easter cards I made to share with the kiddies in our lives.

Soon as I saw this rainbow die, I just had to have it. Then I thought I can't have a rainbow without clouds so I had to get some too!

Sending Love - Watercolour Smooshing

I am having so much fun trying out different card techniques.

I had no idea what watercolour/ink smooshing was until until I saw Kristina Werner do it in one of her videos. If you want to learn more about it, there are lots of great videos on You Tube.
SO easy to do and the results look amazing!

Just love this!

Here is the recipe for this card:
  • Stamps (hearts) - Stampology - Autumn Leaves (old set, maybe discontinued)
    • (YOU, Love, small hearts) - Love Stamp and Cut - Hero Arts
    • (Hugs and) - Prayers - Simon Says Stamp Coordinating Set
  • Ink - distress inks - Seedless Preserves, Picked Rasberry, Fired Brick - Tim Holtz
    • Tuxedo Black - Memento
  • Embossing Powder - Gold - Recollections
  • Stamp Positioner - my own DIY Stamping tool
  • Dies  (black craft foam) - Sending - Simon Says Stamp Wafer Die
  • Die Cutting Machine - Big Shot - Sizzix
  • Cardstock - Neenah Solar White 80lbs

As you can see I used a variety of different stamps to create the card sentiment I wanted. Mix and match all your supplies, don't be afraid to do that. I have always done that with any of my projects, it's a great way to stretch out your supply stash and creating something totally new!

Here is what the inside looks like.

This card really didn't take long to make. I'm sure I will be making more cards using Watercolour Smooshing technique in the future! Hope this has inspired you to give it a try.

DIY Flower Vase Shaker Card

Hey everyone!

I have a bunch of birthdays coming up, so I wanted to stock up and make a few cards to have on hand using supplies that I have been hoarding and hadn't tried out yet! Anyone else have that problem? LOL!

Today I want to share with you a really cute DIY Flower Vase Shaker Card.
This will make the perfect birthday card for one of the ladies in my life!
Who doesn't love flowers?!

The first thing I did for this card was stamp and clear ink emboss with WOW! embossing powder onto some 80lb Neenah cardstock. The stamps I used for this card come from Stampendous - Bouquet for you set. I then water coloured the images in staying with the wells of the embossed areas. Once I was happy with the colouring I loaded the paper onto my Silhouette PixScan mat, scanned it and did the trace of the image and then cut them out!

Here is a cell phone pic I took after the cut (sorry for the bad quality).
I can't tell you how much I LOVE, LOVE my PixScan mat! No fussy cutting required!!!
Click HERE for previous tutorial on the PixScan.

Want to know where I got the vase cut out?!
It is actually a die piece to cut out bows from American Crafts - Dear Lizzy - Fine and Dandy (the banner also came from this die set). When I cut out the top layer of the card I made sure that my big shot would stop cutting the bow by having the top plate end where the bottom of the vase would be. I then just used a craft knife to cut the piece out. So easy right? Sometimes you just have to look at the supplies you have in a different way to stretch out your collection!

The rest of the shaker was assembled like any other shaker card. I used some sequins from Pretty Pink Posh, Martha Stewart Glitter and some Recollections Microbeads. I then added the top layer of the card to a piece of coordinating green scrap I had and mounted it onto A-6 Card base.

Hope this DIY Flower Vase Shaker Card, has inspired you to create something similar and maybe look at supplies you have in a whole different way!

Thanks for stopping by!
