Hello, my crafty friends, I hope you had a wonderful and safe Christmas.
Today I am welcoming you to the Tonic Studios December 2020 Shoot for the Moon Stamp Club Blog Hop! If you have arrived from Daniel West's Blog you are on the right track. I will link the complete hop list and giveaway details near the end of this post, so stay tuned!
I have created three cards featuring the new Moon Stamp and Die Bundle US|UK. Take a look at these sets.
Both these sets come in high-quality plastic sleeves, that are compatible to work with A5 ring binders. How cool is that!? They come in an Orange US|UK or Blue binder US|UK.
CARD DETAILS
This first card was the easiest card I made as most of it was die cut. I die cut the large moon using gold mirror cardstock US|UK and then die cut a silver glitter cardstock circle to add behind the partial moon. I loved the look of the little craters on the moon so didn't punch them out.
Using the same silver glitter cardstock, I die cut the trees and added them to the bottom of the black A2 sized card front. The sentiment comes from the coordinating SHOOT FOR THE MOON stamp set that I stamped onto a white banner strip that I created.
To the inside of the card, I added the Happy Birthday sentiment along with some stars that were stamped out using watermark ink and then added some gold perfect pearls for a subtle hint of color and shine.
For this next slimline card, I began with a black piece of cardstock that I trimmed to 8.5x3.5 inches. I then used Salty Ocean, Mowed Lawn, and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide ink to blend out the northern lights sky. Once the blending was done I then added white splatters using Shark Tooth ReInker ink. I then used the star dies to add the starry night cut-outs into the sky background. Behind the star openings, I glued silver glitter cardstock. I also die cut some silver glitter stars to add to the top of the panel.
Moving along, I stamped out the moon using Hickory Smoke and Iced Spruce Distress Oxide inks and die cut it out with the coordinating circle die. The moon was then popped up onto the sky using foam tape.
Next, I die cut the mountain range. To give the mountains the illusion of reflection I tore a piece of cardstock and use it to blend an edge of color down the mountainside. I then added some MOONSTONE GLIMMER PASTE US|UK to the mountain peaks to give them a snowy mountain appearance.
To the trees, I did the same and added some MOONSTONE GLIMMER PASTE US|UK. I then finished off the card by stamping the sentiment on a piece of vellum that I trimmed and glued in place.
This final moon card is actually an interactive spinner card. The moon is attached to a spin disc that allows it to spin all the way around.
Here again, I began this card by blending out the background. This time I used Picked Raspberry, Fossilized Amber, Peacock Feathers, and Black Soot Oxide inks. I then stamped out the treeline along the bottom using VersaFine ONYX BLACK Ink. Once again, I added splatters to the background using Shark Tooth ReInker ink.
To create the moon I used a piece of silver cardstock from the SILVER SERVICE paper pad US|UK and ran the impression plate through the die machine to create the craters in the moon. I then cut out the moon with the coordinating circle die and blended out the edges of the moon with Black Soot Oxide ink. I colored in the craters of the moon with a gray marker and once again finished it off with splatters.
Now that the elements of the card were made, I then figured out the placement of the moon. Right under where you see the moon now I used a small circle die to create an opening for the slider disc to fit through. I then attached the circle disc to the backside of the center of the moon. While that dried, I stamped out both the sentiments onto the front of the card panel now that I knew the placement of the moon.
To allow the moon to spin freely I added foam tape to the backside of the panel avoiding the opening for the spinner. I then popped the spin disc through the hole of the panel and secured the disc to the back with a larger circle die cut to keep it in place. The last thing to do is glue the panel to the card front. This is a super simple way to add some interaction to a card, but if you don't want to take the extra steps just pop the moon up using foam tape to achieve the same look.
