Hello everyone!
Just a warning that this will be a fairly lengthy post! Maybe it will make up for the lack of them recently. It has been a crazy month for me... First it was my son's 12th Birthday a few weeks ago, and just this past weekend we celebrated his Confirmation Day. So lots of parties and lots of eating!
So lets get to my crafty creations!
When I searched for Confirmation ideas on the internet, I didn't find a lot of them.
Lots of Communion ideas, but not for Confirmation. So I had to make my own up and will share them all with you today :) BTW, my Communion posts are a few of my highest viewed posts on the blog! Click

Cake Topper
I'll start by sharing the cake topper I made on my Silhouette. The font I used is called Arabella, you can download it free from
here. But, for those of you that want what I have already created it is all yours FREE, just keep on reading!
This cake topper cut measures 3.7 x 6.8 inches. I used 3 pieces of the black offset/shadow and one top silver layer. Then just glued them all together and attached them with hot glue to a skewer. If you want to see a similar how to video, click
here (for my happy birthday topper FREE file).
So here you go, the Cake Topper file (first of 4 free files through out the post!)

Cake
Now let's move on to the cake details :)
I find masculine cakes very difficult to make as I always gravitate towards "girly" details.
That is why I went with a suit cake look. In hindsight, I could have just made it a one layer cake as this was a fairly large cake and the bottom piece wasn't even cut...
But then if I had done that, my coworkers wouldn't of enjoyed all the left over cake ;)
For those interested, here is what was inside the cake.
Top layers- Vanilla & Chocolate flavoured - baked in two 8 inch round pans.
Bottom layer - Vanilla & Chocolate flavoured - baked in a 11 inch round pans.
Entire cake was frosted with vanilla butter cream icing and covered with fondant.
So let me show you the rest of the cake now.
Elegant, yet "little" manly is what I was going for! I think I did pretty well :)
I used a metallic Silver washi tape on the cake topper, the outside of the "God Bless Tomas" label (inside - Print and Cut), the cross, and the ribbon wrapped around the top layer to coordinate everything. I didn't want to use glitter for this as it is a bit messy and this was super easy to do!
TIP:
For Creating Washi Tape Paper
To cut out the cake topper and the label offset, all you need to do is adhere the washi tape onto a piece of cardstock. Laying the washi tape down strip by strip as close as possible, making sure you completely cover the size of paper you need to cut. Press the washi tape really well into the cardstock. Load onto your machine. Do a test cut to ensure the the blade depth is correct and then cut out your pieces.
DIY Chalkboard Vinyl Sign
For the cake table I created this Chalkboard Sign. For those of you that follow me on Instagram, you probably saw the sneak peek I posted last week. Click
HERE if you didn't!
Here is how I made this DIY Chalkboard sign...
- I first created the design using the Silhouette Design Studio program.
- Next I cut it out on white vinyl, then weeded the excess negative space.
- Using Transfer tape/material, pick up the design from the vinyl backing by laying transfer tape (sticky part down) as straight as possible on top of the design. Give it a good rub to ensure you pick everything up nicely when you peal it back.
- Next, I laid the design on the Chalkboard, making sure it was as level as possible.
- Press down the cut vinyl design into the board, you may want to use a credit card to smooth down the vinyl and prevent any air bubbles.
- Peel back the transfer material slowly ensuring the vinyl letters are stuck on to the board.
- Finish off the board by rubbing on some chalk randomly and smudging it around with your fingers. Eh voila, your own DIY Chalkboard sign!
I will also be giving this design away FREE!
As a BONUS I have also included a Communion Version of the sign.
(The version you download, says God Bless You on your Confirmation/Communion Day, you will need to add the Date)

Thank You Gifts
For each of the families that came to our celebration, I made them a really simple little "thank-you" gift. A Candle inside a Glass Cylinder. Difficult to see in the picture below, but each cylinder has a frosted vinyl cross on the front of it. I also used the same washi Silver tape and wrapped the top of each cylinder. On the inside I placed a candle and some diamond shaped crystals (I used a heat gun to melt some of the wax from the bottom of the candle and secured it to the middle of the cylinder). I also added a poem on the inside with a small piece of double sided tape. Forgot to take a picture of it but to the bottom of the cylinder I adhered a round "thank-you" from Tomas tag with the date on it. Wrapped the whole thing in cellophane and tied it with a white ribbon. Super simple, supper easy and really inexpensive! (Most items were from the Dollar Store)
And just because I love you, here is another

Here is a closer look at the poem on the inside.
If you look closely I enlarged specific letters to spell out Tomas.
I found this poem on the internet but modified it a little to personalize it to Tomas.
"Trust in God our Guide
This Holy meal He does provide
For His wine and bread, He shares
Give Him thanks each day in Prayers"
This was all typed up in Silhouette Design Studio and then just printed out.
Then cut out using a square stitched Die.
The Godfather
The next most import person of the Confirmation Day is the Sponsor/Godfather. As a little "thank-you" from Tomas to Victor I made him a "Godfather" glass! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how it turned out!
This was done using armour etch.

Tomas
And here is our little man Tomas, just before the ceremony in his cute little 3-piece suit!
And here he is again with his GodFather, as he is blessed with the gift of the Holy Spirit by our Bishop.
Last picture, I promise :)
A picture of Tomas holding his candle during the mass.
So sweet, just love him!
Proud Mommy right here :)
