Easy Frameless Shaker Cards + Video + Giveaway | Got Joy Creations Holiday Card Series

Hello and welcome!

Today I am super excited to be Guest Designing for Dana's Got Joy Creation Holiday Card Series for 2019 by sharing a fun tutorial with you. I will show you a super-easy way to create shaker cards without any frame or foam, thus the Fameless Shaker Card. I’ve had this idea for the longest time and I am finally sharing with you how easy they are to put together.

I will keep this how to write up really brief on this post as it is easier to watch the video, plus to win today's GIVEAWAY (valued over $100 box of craft goodies) you'll have to leave comments on the YouTube Channels to qualify! Also, I share tons of my tips and tricks that I have learned along the way to make the card making process easier.

  CARD DETAILS

For my cards I used mostly products from Studio Katia, see links below for all the products I used.

I began with stamping out the images from the HAPPY SNOWMEN stamp set and then used the coordinating  HAPPY SNOWMEN dies to cut them out. I then colored them in using Copic Markers.

Next, I created my background panels by adding some MOONSTONE GLIMMER PASTE to the 4 1/4 x 5 1/2” panels using the CONFETTI stencil.

To create the frameless shakers, I used a page protector and trimmed the plastic slightly larger than the card panel, leaving a 1/2 inch border around. I then trimmed off the corners of the plastic.

To the back of the card panel, I added strips of adhesive tape. I then added the shaker bits to the center of the plastic sheet and then placed the panel finished side down onto the plastic sheet. Next, I flipped up the flaps adhering then to the back of the panel, sealing in all the shaker pieces.

I then added the finished shaker fronts to the A2 card bases.

To finish off the cards I popped on the images I colored previously and embellished them by adding sparkle and shine wherever I could.

DIY Rain Maker Shaker Interactive Card and Video | Studio Katia

Hello Friends!

Today I have a treat for you, well at least I think so!😉 

Today's card was inspired by my friend and Interactive Card Master Laura Dovalo! When she came out with a card creating a rain shaker I was floored and just knew someday I would have to make one. Well, the day finally arrived! Since then Laura has collaborated with MFT and created the Falling From The Clouds Die to make it easier for us to recreate. Unfortunately, I do not yet own the die and so I had to see if I could up with a DIY version of it using supplies I already owned. Fortunately, Studio Katia had just the die I needed! I always love it when I could stretch my supplies, don't you!?

So here is the fun Rain Maker Shaker Card I came up with. The sun, the rainbow colors, and even the rain just make me smile. Plus it is so fun to play with!

In order to create this version of the Rain Maker Shaker, I used a die meant for stitching which comes from STITCH BORDERS die set. I will let you watch how I used the die to create the mechanism that makes this card interactive. Plus you can see it in action!

CARD DETAILS

To begin this card I added embossing paste to my background using the LARGE POLKA stencil. Once that was dry I realigned the stencil with the embossed dots and used Distress Oxide Inks to blend out the rainbow colors. I then trimmed the background and glued it to the card base.

Next, I die cut the clouds using the cloud border from the SKY SET DOTTED BORDERS and also die cut the pieces for the sun by using the negative piece from die cutting the FANCY CIRCLE DIES together. I then just sandwiched the vellum piece between the sun rays.

The hello script die-cut comes from the YOU'RE SO RANUNCULUS DIE set which I die cut three times and stacked together. I used Copic markers to blend out the rainbow on the die cut and then finished it off with clear embossing powder for a high gloss finish.

To the inside of the card, I stamped out the sending you from the A CUP OF THANKS set and the Sunshine my friend comes from the ALOHA set.
