Sealed with a Kiss Card | Make Ahead Wax Seals | Honey Bee Stamps

Happy Monday my friends!

Today I have a bit of a different Valentine's Day card to share with you. Honey Bee Stamps released a wax seal product line with their latest release and I finally had a chance to play with them. 

There are many ways to melt wax melts. Probably the most traditional way is to do it using a wax melting spoon over a flame. I am impatient and found that took too long, lol. So I used my heat gun, which worked well too but still not as fast as I would like. And that is when I got the idea to use my Hot Foil System to melt the wax. Although the melting part wasn't as quick either, this method yielded more seals because you were making multiples, which ended up saving time in the end.

After experimenting with various types of papers and materials on what to melt the wax melts onto, I discovered the best way to do it was to use tin foil strips. I tried sticker paper, wax paper, acetate, silicone and found the best results happened when I used the tin foil as it transferred the heat the best and released the wax well once it was cool. 

To melt wax using the Hot Foil System, 

• I turned the machine on and waited until the green light was on. 
• Next, I cut pieces of tin foil large enough to fit two melted wax seals as I only have two stampers, and place the tin foil onto the base of the Hot Foil System. 
• I then added two melts to each tin strip. 
• Once the first melt had almost melted I added a second wax melt to the middle of the melted wax. I found two wax melts were enough for a seal. (If you like them a little thicker you can try using three melts per seal).
• Remove one tin foil strip from the Hot foil system at a time as the wax hardens quickly, and stamp the wax using the stamper. I have two stampers, (a rose and a heart stamper) and that is why I only did two seals per tin strip.
• Once the wax is cool (about 15-20 seconds) remove the stamper to reveal the results.
• Repeat process with the next seals.
• Peel seals from foil base, and store them for later use.

TIPS: 

• If your seal doesn't turn out well, you can always remelt it and restamp it over and over again. 
• If you see bubbles in the wax, it means the wax is too hot. I didn't see them using the foil system, but did with the heat gun and candle.
• You can make seals ahead of time for larger projects such as wedding invitations or other events.
• Use a strong adhesive to secure the pre-made wax seals in place. Like double-sided tear tape or strong liquid glue. If using glue, it will take longer to dry in place but it does give you wiggle room to move them around.

CARD RECIPE

This card uses the Hugs & Kisses Wax Melts as well as the white wax from the Tuxedo Melts. All I did was glue them in place using Bee Creative Glue. The liquid glue gave me the extra time to move them around as I was trying to space them as evenly as possible.

Before adding the wax seals in place, I had stamped the sentiment that was heat embossed in white in the center of a black layer of cardstock using a stamp that comes from the Sealed Love Stamp Set. The black panel was then glued to another layer of pattern paper from the Hugs And Kisses Paper Pad.

To create the coordinating envelope I added a Pearl Wax Seal to the flap of a Hugs And Kisses A2 Envelope and finished it with another stamp from the Sealed Love Stamp Set.

Keyhole Shaker Card | Hero Arts

Hello friends, 

Happy Friday! I have had a crazy busy couple of weeks and finally made it back into the craft room. I spent most of last week on my time off from work, re-doing my craft room. If you are curious and would like to see it make sure you go check out my stories and Reel over on Instagram. I have saved the stories to a highlight. 

So let's get on with today's card. This simple shaker card features the Keyhole design from this My Monthly Hero Kit January 2022 and I used it to create a Welcome Home card for a friend who will be moving soon.

If you know me I love shakers, although I must admit it has been a while since I have made a traditional one as I prefer making my frameless shaker versions now. So for this card, I cut out the keyhole window using the Fancy cover plate from Kraft cardstock. I then added the acetate to the back of the opening and then built the foam well to house the iridescent heart sequins around the opening and edges. On a piece of black cardstock, I stamped out the sentiment "Welcome Home" that comes from the Signpost Stamp & Cut XL and heat embossed it in white, and added a pile of the heart sequins to the center of the cardstock. I then removed the protective layer of the foam tape from the top panel and lined the bottom of the keyhole with the sentiment to create the shaker element. This layer was then glued onto a Kraft card front panel that was glued onto the card base. 

To finish I added a key to the front of the window that is included in the My Monthly Hero Kit January 2022.

Key To My Heart Card | Hero Arts | IG Hop

Hello Friends, hope you had a wonderful crafty weekend!

So let me tell you how this pretty came together!

CARD RECIPE

To begin, I used the Chain Linked Fancy Die to die cut the front of the card base, this creates the see-through part of the window on the front panel. I then opened up the card base and glued a piece of acetate to cover up the opening. To finish off the inside of the card I die cut another white card panel using the Chain Linked Fancy Die and then lined it up with the opening and then glued it in place, sandwiching the acetate piece in between.

Next, I die cut the Chain Linked Fancy Die again this time using silver cardstock, and glued it to the acetate front. I then attached two locks to the fence that were die-cut from the Locks Fancy Dies.

To create these sparkly no line colored Peonies, I first stamped out the Peonies Bunch using Contour Ink. (Leave the stamp in the Misti as you will need it for another step later on). I then blended out the fowers using the Layering Peonies Bunch Stencil and a rainbow of Reactive Ink cubes. 

Next, I placed the image back in the Misti and used a powder bag to ensure the ink was dry, and then re-stamped the image using the Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink. To make the stamped sparkle embossing stick, I first applied a Sticky Embossing Powder and heat set it, then added the sparkle powder. I then die-cut the flowers using the coordinating dies for the Peonies Bunch and added them to the bottom of the card front, trimming off pieces that hung over the card base.

For the sentiment on the inside, I used Intens-ified Black Ink Pad to add one of the sentiments from the Key to My Heart stamp set.

Best Friend, You Hold a Key to my Heart Card | Hero Arts

Hello dear friends, 

Today's card is part of a special hop where the community of paper crafters unites against racism. If you would like to take part in this wonderful event hop on over to Instagram. 

The goal of this hop is to continue to raise awareness about anti-racism; to stand with our BIPOC, AAPI, Palestinian, and Indigenous communities, and to encourage everyone to continue learning and to start taking action.  Injustice Anywhere is Injustice EVERYWHERE.  We are all one humanity and should find a way to work towards a more equitable world, in a way that makes sense for YOU.  Silence, inaction, and passivity are detrimental to justice.

I tried to capture the innocence of these two beautiful best friends, who have unlocked each other's hearts and love each other for their differences.

This sweet card features a few of the January My Monthly Hero Kit Add-Ons from Hero Arts. I stamped out the flower girts from Flower Girls Bundle using Intens-ified Black Ink Pad then watercolored them in using Karin Brushmarkers. Behind the girls, I ink blended a heart using a heart stencil that I made by die cutting one of the nested heart dies. Onto the heart, I then glued the chain-linked fence that I trimmed to fit the heart using the Chain Linked Fancy Die. 

For the sentiment, I combined a few from the Flower Girls Stamp set and the My Monthly Hero Kit January 2022 set and stamped them out using the Intens-ified Black Ink Pad. 

To finish I stamped out the tiniest heart lock from the Key to My Heart Bundle and glued it to the fence.
