Hello Friends!
Did you know May 20th is World Bee Day?! And since I am part of the Honey Bee Stamps Design Team we are celebrating today with a Honey Bee Day Hop featuring our cute little bees. This hop has been organized to raise public awareness on the importance of bees! Honey Bee is a sponsor and many of the Design Team Members are participating. Be sure to visit the Honey Bee Blog and leave a comment to be eligible for a $30 Gift Certificate to the shop.
CARD DETAILS
For my Bee themed card, I created a fun shaker. I began by stamping out the little Bees from the BUSY BEE stamp set which I then colored in with Copic markers and then die cut them with their coordinating dies. I had actually stamped a few more but only ended up using one Bees' in the end. The little hearts on the front also come from the BUSY BEE CUTS set that I die cut from red cardstock.
Next, I die cut a few of the large flowers using the STITCHED FLOWERS CUTS set from felt and then added a hand stitched detail to them. The shaker frame and window was created by first, die cutting a piece of pink cardstock out using the largest DECKLE EDGE CUT and then die cutting the window out using one of the DOUBLE STICHED OVAL frames. I also used some white thread to add a stitched detail around the window. To finish off the top window panel I added a piece of acetate and set it aside to work on the card base.
To the card base, I began by blending out the background with some tumbled glass distress oxide in and then stamped out the Thanks a Bunch from the THANKS A BUNCH stamp set. I used the window frame opening to help me align the sentiment before I stamped it out to ensure it would be in the correct position.
To finish the card, I added foam tape along the edge of the bottom of the window frame and then created a little pile of my sequin and shaker bits onto the center area of the card base, removed the backing from the foam tape and then popped on the window frame to the card base to close in the shaker bits.
For finishing details I added some liquid pixie dust to the wings on the bees and to the hearts and once the pixie dust was dry I added a layer of glossy accents.
Thank you for stopping by. Don't forget to stop by the Honey Bee Stamps Blog to see more inspiration from the Honey Bee Stamps Design Team plus comment along the way to be entered in all the giveaways.
Until next time... Happy Hopping 👋
