Quacktastic Wheel Spinner Card | Picket Fence Studios

Quacktastic Wheel Spinner Card, Picket Fence Studios, February Release, Interactive Card, Spinner Card, Handmade Card, Stamping, Die Cutting, Ink Blending, Cardmaking, Crafting, DIY Cards, Duck Stamps

Hello, crafty friends! Today, I am thrilled to share a super fun interactive card featuring the February release from Picket Fence Studios. This Quacktastic Wheel Spinner Card brings an extra touch of whimsy with adorable ducklings that spin around a central sentiment.

For a detailed guide on how I stamp multiple images efficiently, be sure to check out my previous blog post: Lucky Ducky Greetings with Picket Fence Studios. I used the leftover stamped images from that project to create this one! To watch this card in action head on over to my Instagram Reels for the latest video.

Creating the Spinner Wheel
  • Blending the Background – Using the Scene Building A2 Stencil Set, I blended out the background to create a soft sky effect with fluffy clouds and grassy fields using Distress Oxide Inks.
  • Marking the Center – I used a T-Square Ruler to find the center of my card, ensuring smooth spinning action.
  • Adding the Button – The button acts as the pivot point where the rings spin. Use a small circle die (slightly bigger than the button) to die-cut the opening. Glue the background to the card base. Then glue the button to the opening, and set aside to dry completely.
  • Cutting the Circles & Rings – I die-cut two rings using the same smaller circle die from the previous step and a couple of large circle dies, the 2.0" and the 2.5" Connected Circles Shaker Creator Die. The larger ring is what the Duckies are Glued to and the smaller ring is to elevate the spinner mechanism. In hindsight, they could have been the same size.

  • Layering the Ducklings – Once I glued the Duckies to the larger ring, I then die-cut and adhered a blank coordinating die behind each duck to add strength and rigidity. This helps them spin smoothly without bending.
  • Assembling the Spinner – Glue the smaller ring behind the duck layer to lift the spinner mechanism, allowing for a seamless rotation. Place the spinner opening over the button.
  • Hiding the Button – To cover the center button, I die-cut a final circle, decorated it with stamped elements, and added the sentiment, "You Are Quacktastic" and glued it to the button.

Inside the card, I stamped the phrase "Have a Lucky Ducky Birthday" to complement the cheerful front. This makes for a delightful interactive birthday card that is sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face!

Lucky Ducky Greetings | Picket Fence Studios

Handmade greeting card with scalloped edges featuring a bright blue sky, fluffy white clouds, green grass, and a mother duck leading ducklings. “Hello” sentiment in white stands in the background.

Hello, crafty friends! Today, I’m sharing a fun and cheerful handmade card featuring the adorable You Are Quacktastic stamp set from the Picket Fence Studios February Release. This card is packed with dimension, texture, and bright colors, perfect for bringing a smile to someone’s face. It is also part of a 2-Day Instagram Release Hop. So if you would like to be entered to win some fabulous prizes, make sure to HOP along. I also will be sharing a Reel on how this card came together, so don't miss that either :) Now, let’s dive into the details!

CARD RECIPE

Beyond Basics: A2 Scallops, Arches and Window Coverplate Dies - Card base and Panel

You Are Quacktastic Stamps - Duckies

You Are Quacktastic Coordinating Dies - Duckies

Hello 3.0 Word Topper Die - Hello Sentiment

Scene Building: A2 Tall Grass Blades - Grass

On a Cloudy Day StencilShimmery cloud accents

Sparkle - Paper Glitz

Opaque Green Grass Paper Splatter - Green Splatter marks

Ink Palette inside Misti - for stabilizing paper for Stamping

PFS Black Hybrid ink - for stamping

Other Supplies:

Copic Markers - for coloring images

White Gel pen - for highlights

Creating the Card Base

I started with a top-folding A2 card base and die-cut it using the scallop frame die. To ensure the card remained functional, I placed the die slightly over the folded edge to create a hinge. Then, I die-cut another full scallop layer and adhered it to the front for a clean, finished look.

Handmade greeting card with scalloped edges featuring a bright blue sky, fluffy white clouds, green grass, and a mother duck leading ducklings. “Hello” sentiment in white stands in the background.

Stamping and Coloring the Images
One of my favorite time-saving tricks for stamping multiple images at once is using the PFS Paper Inking Palette inside my MISTI tool to keep everything perfectly aligned. Instead of peeling each stamp off the carrier sheet, I place the entire set face down onto my cardstock. Then, I carefully close the MISTI lid to pick up the stamps while ensuring they stay in place.

To keep everything secure, I flip the MISTI onto the window, opening it from back to front while holding down the lid. I then tape the edge of the carrier sheet to the window, ensuring it doesn’t shift. With everything locked in place, I ink up the entire set and stamp all the images in one go using PFS Black Hybrid Ink—quick, easy, and perfectly crisp every time!

Pro Tip: Restamping for Crisp Lines
Do not remove the stamped sheet from the MISTI. After coloring the images with Copic markers, I restamped them using the MISTI to enhance the outlines. This simple trick makes the images pop and look polished!

Once everything was colored and crisp, I used the coordinating dies to cut out the images.

Building the Scene
To create a playful and whimsical background:

Finally, I arranged my ducklings in a neat row, following their stylish mama! Everything was adhered using a mix of foam tape and liquid glue for dimension.

Handmade greeting card with scalloped edges featuring a bright blue sky, fluffy white clouds, green grass, and a mother duck leading ducklings. “Hello” sentiment in white stands in the background.

Inside the Card
I kept the inside simple but fun, stamping the sentiment:
This pun-filled message adds the perfect finishing touch!

Inside view of the card with a scalloped white background and a printed sentiment: "I am so proud that you have all of your ducks in a row. Have a lucky ducky birthday!

This Lucky Ducky Greetings card was a joy to create! With a mix of layering, stenciling, and die-cutting, it’s an eye-catching design that’s surprisingly easy to make. I hope this inspires you to get crafty with the Picket Fence Studios February Release!

Thank you for stopping by and until next time... Happy Crafting and don't forget to join the 2-Day Instagram HOP and enter to win some amazing prizes!

Sending You an Easter Hello Shaker Card | Picket Fence Studios

Front of an Easter shaker card with the "Happy Easter" die-cut sentiment filled with sequins, a stenciled grassy background, and adorable bunnies holding eggs and chocolates.

Hello, crafty friends! Today, I’m thrilled to share a cheerful and interactive Easter card featuring some amazing products from the January Picket Fence Studios Release. This project combines stamping, stenciling, and shaker elements to create a card full of dimension, sparkle, and adorable details.

CARD RECIPE

Other Supplies

Front of the Card:

Background Preparation:
I started by coloring the background for the "Happy Easter Word Die" sentiment using Paper Splatter - Opaque Pale Lavender. To achieve a solid, vibrant color, I applied multiple layers and allowed the ink to dry thoroughly.

Stencil Blending:
Using the Scene Building A2 Stencil Set: Layers of Adventures, I created a soft grassy meadow and sky background with Distress Oxide Inks and Life Changing Blender Brushes. This added depth and set the stage for the shaker element.

Creating the Shaker Frame:
    • I die-cut the shadow layer of the Happy Easter Word Die from the stenciled background.
    • Next, I adhered acetate to the back of the panel and lined up and glued the die cut piece with the card base to ensure perfect alignment.
    • To create a well for the shaker pieces, I used foam tape around the opening, leaving enough space to add the Sequin Mix Plus - Easter Bop.
    • After placing the shaker bits in the center of the card base, I carefully aligned and adhered the front panel over it. Pro Tip: Adding a little glue to the foam tape allows some wiggle room to perfect the alignment.
Adding the Sentiment:
    • I die-cut the "Happy Easter Word Die" sentiment three times—twice in white cardstock for stacking and once with the lavender layer for the top.
    • Using a paintbrush, I applied a thin layer of glue across the middle-to-top portion of the letters and sprinkled Prisma Glitter for a fine sparkle.
    • For the bottom portion, I repeated the process with chunky glitter to create a beautiful ombré effect.
    • Finally, I adhered the glittered sentiment to the acetate opening.
Adding the Bunnies:
The cute bunnies from the Follow that Bunny Stamp Set were stamped with Picket Fence Studio Black Hybrid Ink, colored with Copic markers, and die-cut using the Follow that Bunny Coordinating Die Set. I arranged them around the shaker frame to complete the playful Easter scene.

Front of an Easter shaker card with the "Happy Easter" die-cut sentiment filled with sequins, a stenciled grassy background, and adorable bunnies holding eggs and chocolates.

Inside of the Card:

Inside of an Easter card featuring a bunny holding a balloon, a stamped sentiment reading "Sending You an Easter Hello," and colorful stenciled butterflies for added detail.

Finishing Touches:

  • I added highlights with a white gel pen to the bunnies and elements for dimension.

This Easter card is packed with cuteness, sparkle, and a touch of springtime joy. The combination of Picket Fence Studios’ stamps, dies, and stencils makes creating a cohesive and professional-looking card effortless.

I hope this inspires your next Easter project! Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Life is Better with a Furry Friend Card | Picket Fence Studios

A colorful handmade card featuring two adorable puppies sitting on a teal pillow with the sentiment "Life is better with a friend" in rainbow colors. The background has rainbow paw prints and shiny bone patterns.

Hello, crafty friends! I am so excited to share a delightful card made with some amazing products from Picket Fence Studios' December release. This card combines adorable designs, bright colors, and a touch of sparkle for a truly joyful creation. And guess what? If you'd like to see this card come together step by step, I’ve got a REEL over on my Instagram page—be sure to check it out! Let’s dive into the details!

CARD RECIPE

For this project, I played with the following fabulous Picket Fence Studios products:

Staple Products/Tools:

Creating the Background

The base of the card features a colorful background with paw prints and bones, and here’s how I achieved it:

  1. Stenciling the Rainbow Paws: I used Life Changing Blender Brushes with Distress Oxide Inks in Squeezed Lemonade, Picked Raspberry, and Broken China. These blend beautifully to create a cheerful gradient across the paw prints.
  2. Adding the Twinkling Bones: Using the bones layer of the Fetch Layering Stencil Set, I applied Twinkle Lights Clear Glaze for a subtle shine. This glaze adds dimension while keeping the background clean and playful.
A colorful handmade card featuring two adorable puppies sitting on a teal pillow with the sentiment "Life is better with a friend" in rainbow colors. The background has rainbow paw prints and shiny bone patterns.

The Dome Panel

To create the focal point for the card:

  1. I die-cut the dome shape using the Basic Die Cutting Set 1.
  2. For the shadow under the pillow, I masked the area with a sticky note and blended Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink using a Life Changing Blender Brush.
  3. I layered the adorable puppy duo from the Happy Paws Stamp and Die Set on top of the shadow, popping them up with foam for dimension. These sweet friends were colored with Copic markers and enhanced with white and gold gel pens for highlights and tiny details.
A colorful handmade card featuring two adorable puppies sitting on a teal pillow with the sentiment "Life is better with a friend" in rainbow colors. The background has rainbow paw prints and shiny bone patterns.

Sentiment and Color Coordination

The sentiment, “Life is better with a friend,” perfectly matches the cozy scene. To keep the theme vibrant:

  • Once the sentiment was positioned in the Misti, I then added the Squeezed Lemon to the middle of the stamp and diffused the edges of the ink using a Pint-sized Paper Pouncer to blend it out. I then moved on to the Picked Raspberry on top and the Broken China on the bottom. Diffusing each color with the coordinating Pint-sized Paper Pouncer. This colorful sentiment mirrors the rainbow tones from the background.
  • This cohesive approach ties the entire design together beautifully!

Crafty Tip: Seamless Die Cuts

When working with multiple die-cut images that have white border edges, you can create the illusion of a seamless join by following this trick:

  1. Die-cut your images and arrange them to determine where they overlap.
  2. Fussy cut the white edge off one of the images where it overlaps with the other.
  3. To clean up the cut edge, run a black marker along it to mimic the stamped outline.
  4. Glue the two pieces together, and voilà! Your die-cut images will look like one continuous piece.

This tip works perfectly for the adorable puppy duo on this card!

Finishing Touches

To assemble:

  1. I adhered the stenciled background to a card base.
  2. The dome panel was popped up with foam tape for added depth.
  3. For the final touch, I scattered Celestial Skies Gems around the design, adding a hint of sparkle.
A colorful handmade card featuring two adorable puppies sitting on a teal pillow with the sentiment "Life is better with a friend" in rainbow colors. The background has rainbow paw prints and shiny bone patterns.

This card is bursting with personality, from the happy pups to the rainbow hues and sparkling details. It’s a heartwarming reminder that life truly is better with friends—especially the furry ones!

Puppy Slimline Thank You Card | Picket Fence Studios December Release

A handmade slimline thank-you card featuring a colored puppy illustration, bold die-cut \"Thanks\" sentiment, paw print details, glossy accents on the eyes and nose, and a clay heart embellishment.

Creating personalized thank-you cards is a fantastic way to show your appreciation while indulging in your love for crafting. This card is part of the Picket Fence Studios December Release Instagram hop, and there is a $50 Gift Card up for grabs for those who hop along! Click here to join the HOP

Plus, a Reel I made of this card will be posted soon for those who love visuals. Click HERE to watch.

Let’s dive into the details!

CARD RECIPE
Stamping:
  • Start by stamping the puppy image from You Hold My Heart in Your Paw Stamps using the Picket Fence Studio Black Hybrid Ink Pad onto the top of a slimline card panel.

Colouring:
  • Use Prismacolor pencils to bring the stamped image to life. Blend various shades to give depth and dimension to the puppy's fur and features. Normally, I would have used some Gamsol to blend out the pencil strokes, but I couldn’t find it in my stash.

  • Add highlights to the puppy’s face using the Gold 1.0 Karin DecoGel Pen. This adds a touch of shimmer and accentuates key areas.

  • This puppy reminds me of our dog, so I made it look like her, what a cutie!

A handmade slimline thank-you card featuring a colored puppy illustration, bold die-cut \"Thanks\" sentiment, paw print details, glossy accents on the eyes and nose, and a clay heart embellishment.

Cutting the Sentiment:
  • Use the Thanks Stacked Word Die to cut out the "Thanks" sentiment from the lower part of the card panel. Save the cut-out pieces for later.

  • To create a shadow effect, die-cut the same sentiment twice more from black cardstock. Stack these layers together, adhering them with glue, before placing the original die cut "Thanks" layer on top.

Card Base:
  • Adhere the completed card panel onto a black slimline card panel for a bold border.
  • Finally, glue everything onto a slimline card base measuring 8.5 x 4 inches.
Embellishment:

  • Complete the design by adhering a tiny clay white heart to the card front. This small detail adds a bit of sweetness and ties the entire design together.

Adding gloss and texture:
A handmade slimline thank-you card featuring a colored puppy illustration, bold die-cut \"Thanks\" sentiment, paw print details, glossy accents on the eyes and nose, and a clay heart embellishment.

Flying High Shaker Card with a Moving Hot Air Balloon | Picket Fence Studios

A whimsical handmade shaker card featuring a red hot air balloon floating in a blue sky with clouds. The balloon is suspended on clear thread, allowing it to move, and sequins add sparkle within a cloud-shaped window.

Today, I’m thrilled to share a whimsical shaker card that has a few extra surprises in store! Not only does this card feature beautiful sequins that shift and shine, but it also has a hot air balloon suspended on a loose clear thread, allowing it to sway within the scene like it’s really floating among the clouds. This project features some fantastic new products from Picket Fence Studios’ November release, which made creating this dreamy scene a joy.

CARD RECIPE
  • Picket Fence Studios Hot Air Balloons Sighting Stamps
  • A2 Cloud Peek-a-boo Cover Plate Die for the cloud-shaped window
  • Fabulously Glossy A2 Card Fronts - Blue Skies Ahead as the gorgeous sky background
  • On a Midnight Dream Sequin Mix to add sparkle and depth to the shaker
  • PFS Black Hybrid Ink for crisp stamping on the balloon
  • Shaker Sheets to create a clear window front for the shaker
  • White and Gold Gelly Pens for highlights and finishing touches
  • Foam Tape to create space for the shaker elements
  • Blue Ink Pad to add color to the sentiment
  • Clear Thread to suspend the hot air balloon
  • Copic Markers to color the Balloon

  • Balloon
Use PFS Black Hybrid Ink to stamp out the Hot Air Balloons Sighting Stamps. I then colored one of the balloons using Copic Markers and fussy cut it. To bring out the details of the hot air balloon, I used White and Gold Gelly Pens to add highlights and accents. To the back side of the balloon, I attached a clear thread using glue and tape to ensure it would have a stronghold. Set it aside to work on the shaker window.

    Background and Shaker Preparation
I started with the Fabulously Glossy A2 Card Front - Blue Skies Ahead. This beautiful card front has a clear and vivid sky scene, making it perfect for this project. I placed the A2 Cloud Peek-a-boo Cover Plate Die over the card front and die-cut it to create a cloud-shaped window that would serve as the focal point for the shaker area. Glue the center of the die cut to the front of the card base.

A whimsical handmade shaker card featuring a red hot air balloon floating in a blue sky with clouds. The balloon is suspended on clear thread, allowing it to move, and sequins add sparkle within a cloud-shaped window.

    Creating the Shaker Compartment
Next, I used the Shaker Sheets to cover the opening, providing a clear window for the sequins. I then added foam tape around the back of the cloud opening to form a well that would hold the sequins. I filled the compartment with the On a Midnight Dream Sequin Mix, which complemented the blue sky beautifully with its mix of blues and iridescent tones.

    Suspending the Hot Air Balloon
To make the hot air balloon appear as if it’s floating in the sky, I used clear thread to suspend it. I attached the top and bottom of the balloon to the foam tape card with the thread, giving it room to move freely. This clear thread lets the balloon “fly” without being tethered too tightly, adding to the illusion of it drifting through the clouds.

    Adding the Sentiment
For the sentiment, I stamped "nothing but blue skies await" from the Hot Air Balloons Sighting Stamps in a coordinating blue ink and placed it below the cloud window. This message perfectly complements the floating hot air balloon and adds a dreamy, hopeful note to the card.

A whimsical handmade shaker card featuring a red hot air balloon floating in a blue sky with clouds. The balloon is suspended on clear thread, allowing it to move, and sequins add sparkle within a cloud-shaped window.

    Inside Sentiment
On the inside, I stamped out the Happy Birthday Stamp from the Hot Air Balloons Sighting Set. Birthday cards are always the first to get used up in my stash!

A whimsical handmade shaker card featuring a red hot air balloon floating in a blue sky with clouds. The balloon is suspended on clear thread, allowing it to move, and sequins add sparkle within a cloud-shaped window.

Tips for Crafting a Moving Shaker Card

    • Use Clear Thread: Attaching the balloon with clear thread allows it to blend into the background seamlessly, creating the illusion that it’s floating.
    • Create Ample Space for Movement: Make sure there’s enough room for your suspended element (the balloon, in this case) to sway slightly without hitting the edges. This makes the movement look more natural.
    • Shaker Depth: Using foam tape around the edges of the shaker area ensures the sequins have enough space to move, adding extra dimension and sparkle to the card.

This card is perfect for anyone who loves the sky and dreams of adventures! It would make a wonderful greeting for a loved one or a friend who might need a reminder to keep looking forward to brighter days.

I hope you enjoyed this walkthrough of my "Nothing but Blue Skies Await" shaker card! Let me know if you try this technique – I’d love to see your creations.

Thank you for stopping by and until next time... Happy Crafting!
