Hello, my friends!

It feels like forever since my last blog post. I've been taking it slow lately, as I've just returned to work after my back injury. Crafting has had to take a back seat for now. Plus, the weather has been amazing, and I'm trying to enjoy it while it lasts.

Today, I'm excited to share a summer-inspired sunset birthday card with you. There's something magical about a sunset over the ocean, with the beautiful reflections on the water. If you enjoy ink blending, this card is perfect for you and quite simple to make.

CARD RECIPE

Palm Trees: Lovely Layers: Hammock Honey Cuts

Sentiment: Sunkissed Summer Stamps

Ink: Bee Creative Intense Black Ink Pad 

Coconuts: Grab Your Passport Gem Stickers

Sun: Circle Spotlight Stencils 

See the complete list of supplies below

Mask the Sun:

• Begin by masking out the sun using the Circle Spotlight Stencils. (discontinued, but you can create your own using Sweet Stacks: Circles Dies)
• Add a piece of masking tape across the bottom of the sun to create the water level.
• Blend the sun using Mustard Seed Oxide Ink (OI) in the middle, and Ripe Persimmon OI on the edge.
• Remove the stencil.

Blend the Sky:

• Cover up the sun with a circle mask.
• Blend out the sky, starting with Mustard Seed OI, followed by Picked Raspberry OI, Wilted Violet OI, and Blueprint Sketch OI.

Create the Water:

• Remove the masking tape and cover up the bottom of the sun at the water level.
• Blend the water to create the sun's reflection using the same colors as the sky.
• Remove the masking tape.

Finish the Background:

• Cover up the top half of the card above the water line.
• Mist the bottom with water and use a paper towel to lift some of the ink from the paper.
• Trim the panel and glue it to the card base.

Add Glitter:

• Apply a generous amount of liquid glue to the water line and sprinkle chunky glitter over it.
• Drag the glue down into the water's reflection and sprinkle prisma glitter over it.

Stamp the Sentiment:

• Stamp the sentiment from Sunkissed Summer Stamps in the center of the sun using Bee Creative Intense Black Ink.

Add the Palm Trees and Coconuts:

• Die cut the palm trees from the Lovely Layers: Hammock Honey Cuts and glue them in place.
• Trim off anything hanging over the edge of the card.
• Add the coconuts to the trees using gems from the Grab Your Passport Gem Stickers.

Hello, my friends!

Today's card couldn't be more fitting. My husband surprised me last week for my birthday with a trip starting in Nashville, Tennessee, and ending in Asheville, North Carolina. He had this trip planned since December and I wasn't sure I was going to be able to go as I have been dealing with a herniated disc in my back since January. Thankfully I have come a long way with lots of physio and rehab. This trip was just what I needed both physically and mentally as these past 6 months have not been the easiest for me. Hopefully, my 48th year will be a better one!🤞

Paper - Grab Your Passport Paper Pad

Frame 1 - Lovely Layouts: Posted - Dies

Frame 2 - Lovely Layouts: Party Frames - Honey Cuts

Frame 3 - Sweet Stacks: Rectangles

Suitcases - Lovely Layers: Small Suitcases Dies

Flowers - Lovely Layers: Globe Dies

Sentiment - Plane Awesome Stamps 

Ink - Bee Creative Intense Black Ink Pad and Ground Expresso Distress Oxide Ink

Tools - Ink Blender Brushes

Pearls - Travel Pearl Stickers

• Begin by die-cutting and assembling the Lovely Layers: Small Suitcases Dies
• For a fun detail, I added white stitched lines all around the suitcases using a gel pen
• Die-cut the largest frame using the Lovely Layouts: Posted - Dies and paper from Grab Your Passport Paper Pad
• The next frame comes from the Lovely Layouts: Party Frames - Honey Cuts. Add foam to the back and glue to the previous frame

• Die-cut the smallest frame using the Sweet Stacks: Rectangles, add ink blending to the edges to distress the paper, and give it a vintage vibe.
• Stamp the sentiment out using Plane Awesome Stamps in Bee Creative Intense Black Ink
• Add foam to the back of the suitcases and arrange them onto the card front.
• Glue the die-cut flowers from the Lovely Layers: Globe Dies in place
• Add the Travel Pearl Stickers to the center of the flowers

Blow Out the Candles Birthday Cake Card | Picket Fence Studios

Hello friends,

I'm excited to share my latest creation with you: the "Blow Out the Candles" Birthday Cake Card, showcasing some fantastic new products from the Picket Fence Studios June Release. Birthday cards are my absolute favorite to make, and I go through them the fastest, so I hope you enjoy this idea as much as I do.

CARD RECIPE

Candles - Blow Out the Candles and Coordinating Dies

Sentiment - Blow Out the Candles

Frame - Pinking Shear A2 Cover Plate Die

Cake layers - DIY pop-up panels

Icing - pink and purple - Paper Glaze Velvet Soft Pastel Sampler Set

Tools - Mixed Media Spatulas

Tool - Paper Inking Palette - 4x4

Gems - Mixed Sound Waves Gems

Inside Sentiments - Swanky Sentiments: Birthday and Friendship Matters

Inks - Black Hybrid Ink Pad

Candle Inks - Lilac and Bubblegum SSS pawsitively saturated ink

• Begin by cutting 2 strips of cardstock - these will form the pop-up pieces
• 1 - 1 1/4 inch x 4 inches then score each end at the 1/2 inch and 1-inch mark
• 1 - 1 1/4 inch x 5 inches then score each end at the 1/2 inch and 1-inch mark, add foam tape to the pop up the base of this layer slightly higher than the top layer
• Cut the top layers for each pop-up piece
• 1 - 1 1/4 inch x 2 inches
• 1 - 1 1/4 inch x 3 inches
• Spread a thin layer of the pink and purple glaze from the Paper Glaze Velvet Soft Pastel Sampler Set onto the top layers. Allow them to dry completely
• Glue the top layers onto coordinating pop-up pieces
• Add "icing" to the top and bottom of the cake layers, and set aside to dry

• Stamp out the candles using the Blow Out the Candles and die cut using the Coordinating Dies
• I colored the candle wicks to make them look like they had been blown out
• Glue the candles to the top of the top layer of cake
• Next, die cut the frame using the Pinking Shear A2 Cover Plate Die and glue that to the card base using foam to elevate the layer
• Stamp out the sentiment from the Blow Out the Candles along the bottom of the panel
• Glue the cake in place
• Add Mixed Sound Waves Gems to decorate the cake
• Stamp the inside sentiments using the stamps from Swanky Sentiments: Birthday and Friendship Matters in Black Hybrid Ink

I had so much fun making this cake, I hope you enjoyed it too. This cake card was made for my God Daughter who just celebrated her 17th birthday and is a huge Taylor Swift fan. Can you tell I got some inspiration from her? Make sure to stop by my Instagram next as I will share how to reel there.

Birthday Wishes from the Herd Card | Picket Fence Studios

Hello Friends, 

Today's card is part of the Picket Fence Studios June Release Instagram Hop. So make sure to join me on Instagram for a chance to win some amazing prizes!  My card was inspired by the recent solar flares responsible for the amazing Northern Light shows we have witnessed. I am not sure how realistic this card is but thankful for creative expression, who knows maybe the giraffes have also seen them!

Giraffes and Sentiment - From Our Entire Herd Stamps and Coordinating Dies

Mountains - Scene Building Dies: Mountains

Paste - Paper Glaze Brass Doorknob

Rainbow Sky - Fabulous Toner Foil Striped Rainbow

Stars - Mixed Sound Waves Gems

• To start I used the Fabulous Toner Foil Striped Rainbow to foil the background for this card
• Die cut a few layers using the Scene Building Dies: Mountains out of black cardstock
• With my fingertips, I applied the Paper Glaze Brass Doorknob to the mountain peaks

• Stamped out and heat embossed the giraffes and sentiment from the From Our Entire Herd Stamps and used the Coordinating Dies to cut them out
• To add some twinkle in the sky, I added some Mixed Sound Waves Gems

This gorgeous floral Retirement Card features the new Bold Background Plumeria Dies. Hard to tell from the photos but I added so much dimension to these flowers by using foam between the layers.

To frame these Plumerias, I used the scalloped frame from the Lace Heart Layering Frames Dies. The Sentiment comes from the new Rest and Relaxation Stamp Set and die cut with the coordinating dies.

To add a touch of sparkle to the center of the Plumerias, I added some new gems from the Grab Your Passport Gem Stickers.

Global Adventure Card | Honey Bee Stamps - Day 2 Sneak Peek

This Global Adventure card features the new Air Mail 3D Embossing Folder that created this incredible background. To replicate this look, I rubbed on a layer of black soot distress oxide ink, sprayed the embossed paper with a few distress oxide colors, and then used a brayer to add the top color to the embossed raised images.

The center of the card features the Lovely Layers Globe Dies, which I popped onto a layer from the Lovely Layers Time to Go Postcard. I then finished the card with some new gems from the Grab Your Passport Gem Stickers.

On the inside of the card, I added a sentiment from the Plane Awesome Stamp Set.
