Sending Hugs and Prayers Sympathy Card

Today was a sad day for me...
I said my goodbye to a long time friend, colleague and mentor. I had worked with Jan for almost 20 years. She was super smart, so funny and sarcastic, beautiful, and one the best Nurses I've ever worked with. She was for a very long time our Charge Nurse and go to person for all our questions and always someone I looked up to and admired.  When I first started at the hospital one day at lunch, I remember a comment Jan made to me. She said that I looked like I was just a kid and that I could be her daughter, (she probably would of had to have me at 16, lol) but from that point on she became my work mom. Today was her celebration of life and though she left us too soon, she had a beautiful one. I will miss her terribly as we all will at work 😪

So on to today's card...
As sad as the situation is, I always like to look for the beauty in things, and as I made this card I thought of Jan. I think Jan would of loved this card and hopefully her family will too.

Sending Hugs and Prayers Sympathy Card

The card was actually quite simple to put together. I began by stamping out the background with versamark ink and then added some Raven embossing powder and heat set it, then die cut my panel.
Next, I cut out the prayers word die 4 times. To the top prayer die I stamped the coordinating stamp on top again using versamark ink and this time used gold embossing powder and heat set it. I then stacked and glued 3 of the word dies together. Finally I cut out the velum layer, stamped and heat set the images and then glued the prayers in place. Right behind where I had glued the prayers stacked dies, I then glued the last die cut behind the vellum. This created a larger surface area to adhere the vellum layer to the front panel and it also lifted the vellum off the card ever so slightly.

To the inside, I just finished the card with this simple sentiment.

Hope this card Sending Hugs and Prayers Sympathy Card has inspired you today.

Creating Coordinating Digital Dies for Stamps Using the Silhouette PixScan - Video Tutorial

Hi everyone!

Today I want to share with you how to make your own coordinating Digital Dies for stamps you have but do not own the coordination dies for. The process is not that complicated if you are already familiar using the Silhouette PixScan. For those of you that aren't, I have put together a step by step video of how to do it.

Here is a sympathy card I made using the Digital Dies I created. The stamps come from Fleurette Bloom's Pawsatively Fabulous Stamp Set. Super cute stamps, perfect for the dog lover in your life!

The best thing about these digital die files is that you can cut out a whole bunch on plain white card stock (whatever you use for stamping) and save them for a different time. Just put the cut blank dies in a baggy and when want to create with the coordinating stamps you are ready to go! If you run out of them just cut some more out from your saved file.

NO more fussy cutting!

I used my Spectrum Noir markers to color this pup and added Wink of Stella for some shine!
To the eyes, nose and the dog bone, I added some glossy accents.
I used Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and Walnut Stain distress ink.
Stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx and embossed the sentiment with WOW clear powder.

The inside stamps come from here.

So for those wanting to know the how to's, I invite you all to watch my video :)

Hope the video was informative and helped you save some money on coordinating dies ;)

Sympathy Card | SVGCuts

Death and dying are part of my work life.  It's hard to run from it as an Oncology nurse. I hope, in the very least, to provide comfort to those I do care for as they pass and console those who are left behind.

A very good friend of mine recently lost a loved one, so I thought I would make her a card just to let her know I was thinking of her.

For this project, I used a few SVGCuts files that I have altered to come up with this card. Click on the links below to see which kits the files came from.

Nobody likes to lose someone they've loved. A handmade card like this, may put a smile on their face or at least let them know how much you care for them.
