There Is No Place Like Home | Whimsical Town Scene Card | Studio Katia

Hello, my friends. I hope you are all staying safe and healthy at home during this time.

Today's card was sadly inspired by the Pandemic, right now there is definitely no place like home! At the time that this was colored, (Day 15 of Kathy Racoocin's Daily Marker Coloring Challenge) Italy was and still is going through difficult times. I have never been to Italy but I imagine it has some beautiful coastal places like this, maybe even whimsical too.

CARD DETAILS

To begin I stamped out all of the WHIMSICAL TOWN stamps that I wanted to use and colored them in using Copic Markers. I chose the bright colors of the rainbow and then mixed them up to color all the buildings. I think the colorful images just add to the whimsy of the card.

Once all the elements were colored I then used the coordinating WHIMSICAL TOWN DIES to cut the pieces out.

Next, I used the BRUSH STROKE WAVES STENCIL to blend out the ocean for the background. I then trimmed the piece and glued it to the card front and began building the scene from there.

To create the illusion of the water in the background I popped up the houses starting with the houses closest to the ocean. I then used the SIMPLE BORDERS DIES to create the grass and to cover up the bottom edges of the buildings. The middle hill was just the opposite cut of the die that I glued in place and added some trees and bushes to.

For the front row of houses, I added an extra layer of foam only to the top parts of the buildings to continue to the illusion of depth.

To finish off the card I stamped out the sentiment from the WHIMSICAL TOWN stamps onto the bottom grass piece and popped it onto place.

Make A Wish Gnomie | St. Patrick's Day Card | Honey Bee Stamps

Hello, my friends!👋

I have a fun St. Patrick's Day inspired card to share with you all today. I have turned the cute little gnome from the GNOME PLACE LIKE HOME set into a leprechaun.

CARD DETAILS

I began this card by stamping out the gnome and the clovers from MAE THE MOUSE set. I then colored them in using Copic Markers and die cut them out with their coordinating dies.

Next, I needed to create a pot for the pot of gold. To do that I used the balloon die from the UP, UP AND AWAY DIES and cut the neck of the balloon off and flipped it onto its top. To make the lip of the pot I cut a few strips of cardstock and stacked and glued them together. The gold coins that I then filled the pot with come from the PENNY SHAKERS HONEY CUTS set.

To create the rainbow I die cut all the pieces using white cardstock, I then used the same colors to color the arcs of the rainbow that I had used on the gnome.

Once I had all my pieces cut out and colored, I assembled the card. I added a light blend Atelier Peacock Blue Ink to the sky and then started gluing down my pieces. I began by adding one of the strips of grass that I had die cut using the GRASS BORDER DIE and then built the scene from that point. I also stamped a few more clovers in the background to fill in some areas.

Seriously how cute is this Gnome turned leprechaun!? To this cutie, I added a drop of glossy accents to his nose and added a fun iridescent bubble to top off his hat.

To finish off the Make A Wish sentiment, I die cut the Wish Word out a few times, stacked and glued it together to give it some thickness and glued it onto a vellum shadow layer.

The cute little hearts I added to the rainbow come from the FREE BEE MINE DIE set, that I added some glitter too and glossy accents.

Here is a peek at the inside of the card. I didn't catch my mistake until I wrote this post. I had meant to add an "i" to Gnome to make it Gnomie and to play off the gnome on the front of the card, so I have since done that, but sadly not for this photo. Oh, well guess you'll just have to imagine that I squeezed in an "i" in there. To stamp the Gnome in a rainbow-like blend I just used 3 different colors of ink beginning with the yellow in the center and the red on top and the blue on the bottom, the ink that overlapped made a blend creating a rainbow-like gradient.
