New Collections Inspiration ft. Destination China | Blog Hop + Giveaway | Spellbinders

Today I am super excited to join Spellbinders for their New Collections Inspiration Blog Hop. My cards feature the Destinations China Collection by Lene Lok. 

In 2008, my Husband and I visited a few of the cities in China and of course many of their famous tourist spots. We had such an amazing experience and would one day love to go back. This die collection reminded me of the wonderful trip we had and the beauties we saw in China. 

Look at what a beautiful card these intricate dies make! I think this card is perfect for the upcoming 2019 Chinese New Year.

CARD DETAILS

To make this card I began with the background. I die cut Lucky Clouds Etched Die twice, stacked and glued the two layers together and then glued them to an acetate piece trimmed to size. I then cut out a rectangle opening in the card base and glued the clouds in place.

Next, I die cut two of the Etched Lanterns out of a red and gold shimmer cardstock, pieced and glued them together. I then added some gold crystals for detail.

For the sentiment, I used an old Recollections stamp set I had and embossed the letters in white, trimmed it and added it to the bottom of the card.

Before gluing the lanterns onto the clouds, I used a thin wire and strung it through the openings of the clouds and then glued the lanterns in place securing the wire down as well.

For this next card, I wanted to recreate the look of a Chinese screen door. In my head, I was thinking of a missing you card for a friend or family member, or even for a welcome to a new home card. 

To make this card, I used the Traditional Fence Etched Dies to create this Square Doorway. 

I began by using the large outline die to die cut the grey background piece. I then used one of the fence dies to die cut two doors from a darker grey piece of cardstock and trimmed them to fit onto each panel of the doorway. To the back of each fence, I glued a piece of vellum trimmed to fit. The Doorway was then glued onto a 5 x 5.25-inch red card base.

To give these screen doors some handles I used the tassels from one of the Lantern dies and die cut a negative and positive from a foiled piece of silver cardstock to create the mirrored opposite of the dies and then added a crystal to the handles.

The sentiment was heat embossed in white and comes from Studio Katia.

Hey Sugar Shaker | Partial Shaker Window | Wobble Card

Hello my crafty Friends!

For my card today I'm using this darling set that Spellbinders sent me. It is The Shake It Up Stamp and Die Set, The Perfect Match by Debi Adams. Punny cards are always so much fun!

Here is how this card was made:

• I first began by stamping my sugar shaker on to some Bristol paper using blackout ink.
• Next I colored the shaker in with Copic Markers (Bottle-B00 and RV10, Cap-C1, C3, and C5)
• I then die cut the image with the coordinating die.
• To the Sugar bottle I added glossy accents and set it aside to dry.
• To create the window for the shaker I used scissors and cut out the opening along the right side of the panel. I then traced that cut onto the card front of the card base and also cut it out.
• Now that the window was cut from the card panel, I added my stamped sentiments. 
• Next, I used a plastic sleeve to create the window. I lined up the creased edge of the plastic along the outside of the panel and adhered one side of the sleeve to the back of the card panel.
• Next I added the confetti to the pocket along the crease and then added a thin strip of double sided adhesive tape along the edges of the window. Folded over the other side of the plastic sleeve and sealed the pocket.
• I then took the finished card panel and added foam tape to the back, lined it up to with the card base and glued the pieces together.
• For fun and to add a sprinkle look, I added the little sprinkled stamps along the edge of the window.
• To complete the card, I added a little action wobble spring to the back of the bottle and adhered it to line up with the top of the window.
