Hello friends and Happy Monday!
Like many of you, we will be having a staycation this summer. It's time to explore our own backyards and enjoy the nature around us. Thankfully we do have mountains and lakes a few hours away that we can explore. We will miss the beach this year, but hopefully, we will have things figured out for next summer as we would love to travel back to Europe to visit our family and maybe get that beach time in. Today's shaker card theme is about missing someone, so I thought it would be appropriate to create a missing you Beach card.
CARD DETAILS
To start, I began by die cutting 2 of the frames from the SLIMLINE SENTIMENTS EYELET DIES. I then used the MAKING WAVES LONG BORDER DIES to create the sand and the ocean waves using the inside die cuts of the SLIMLINE SENTIMENTS EYELET DIES.
I used Antique Linen and Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide Inks (OI) to blend out the sand on the gentle waves and glued those pieces together and set them aside to use later on top of the shaker card.
For the top of the card panel, I blended out a soft sun using a circle from the CIRCLE SPOTLIGHT STENCIL and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Ink and glued that to the card base. For the sky, I used Broken China OI.
Next, I glued the ocean waves to the middle are of the card base that I had blended Mermaid Lagoon and Salty Ocean OI. The bottom area was left blank as the sand will cover up the area in the final steps of the card.
I then glued acetate to the scalloped slimline frame and added very thin strips of foam tape all around the edges and across the bottom just under where the sand will be. This will keep the shaker bits from falling all the way down under the sand and make the confetti more visible.
On the top half of the card base, I added my Confetti Mix (see links below) in a pile and then pressed the frame in place.
Before gluing down the sand area, I stamped the missing you sentiment from PARADISE BLOOMS. I then finished off the card by stamping out a few images from the HELLO SUMMER set and did some simple no-line coloring using Copic markers and added them to the sand area.
I hope this Missing You card doesn't make you miss the beach too much but instead inspire you to send a card to a friend that you spend time with at the beach or anywhere else that reminds you of them.
