Simple Communion Cake for a Boy

Well, the day has arrived... It's my son Tomas' First Communion today!!!
All the work is finally done and its time to party... So today's post was prescheduled, of course!

Last time I showed you my cake pops, today I will show you the cake I made for the Communion. It is a 4 layer marble cake with a buttercream and Nutella filling, covered with fondant... can you say yummy!!!

Here a few more pictures of the cake close up. Love how the bow turned out!

The rosary made with little balls of rolled fondant then strung them all together with a stretchy elastic wire.

Simple and sweet :)

I'll be posting more pics of the First Communion Day as soon as I have more time.

Thanks for visiting again,

  1. Beautiful! Out of all the cakes I showed my son online for his first communion cake, he picked this one for me to attempt to emulate. Did you string the beads before or after the fondant had dried? And if after did you pierce a hole in them before you let them dry? Is the cross white chocolate?
My son is Thomas...how funny that he picked your son Tomas' cake! Congrats on your son's first communion!

    1. Hello! Thank-you! The cake turned out pretty cute, but I'm kinda biased :)

I rolled the little fondant balls and pierced them with a toothpick first. I then let them dry overnight. Once they were dry I strung all the beads on the line. I then spaced them out accordingly when I placed it on the cake. It was at that point that I secured the rosary to the cake with a little dab of water to hold the beads in place. The cross was also made out of fondant. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions. Congratulations to Thomas as well!
