Happy Canada Day, eh!

Today I am up on the Honey Bee Stamps Blog. For those of you that don't know I'm Canadian, so I thought it would be fun to make Canada a few Birthday Cards. Since Canadians have been stereotyped for using the word "eh!" after making a statement, I thought it would be fun to play on the word as most of us Canadians have embraced it as an element of our Patriotism. After all, life is too short to take offense, eh!

CARD DETAILS

To begin my cards, I started by stamping out the Maple leaf from the BUSHEL AND A PECK set randomly to create the background for the card. I then used Copic Markers to color in the leaves. 

Once the background coloring was done, I die cut the panel using the largest frame from the DECKLE EDGE A2 HONEY CUTS set. I then used the "EH!" dies from the BEE BOLD ALPHABET CUTS to die cut the letters in the center of the panel. To build up and pop up the "EH!" I die cut some black foam and black cardstock using the letters, glued them together and then place them back into the die-cut panel that I had glued to a black card base. I then added glossy accents to the top of the letters to give it that extra pop of shine.

The top birthday sentiment comes from the FOXY SENTIMENTS stamp set and the bottom one comes from the HAPPY BIRTHDAY stamp set that I stamped and embossed in white onto black cardstock.

This next card was a bonus card, rather than tossing the die cuts from the "EH!" I had previously cut I thought I would use them to make another card.

This time I started by cutting out the black panel using the largest frame from the A2 DOUBLE STITCHED FRAMES Cuts. Next, I stamped out the Happy Birthday from the YOU'RE A CLASSIC stamp set in white and heat embossed it.

I then glued the "EH!" in place, as well as another maple leaf that I had colored and die cut.

To finish off this card I also added some enamel dots from the BACK TO BASICS sticker pack and a few CRYSTAL PRISM GEMs.

Feel Better Soon Card | Ink On 3

Hello Friends!

Sorry, I have been a bit MIA from the Blog and Social Media this last week. I had my Gallbladder removed last Wednesday and have been slowly recovering since.  Thankfully, every day I feel a little better and am sure I will be back to normal soon!

So today's Feel Better Soon card couldn't be more appropriate. At the time made it, I thought of other people going through some tough times and now I kind of chuckle as the beat up hamster reminds me of me! So ironic now.

CARD DETAILS

To begin I stamped out the beat up hamster from the KNOCKOUT NIBBLES set using Blackout Ink and then colored him in using Copic Markers. I then used the coordinating  KNOCKOUT NIBBLES die to die cut the critter.

I then picked a spot on the lower half of the card front where the Hamster would be and used the same coordinating die to cut the space for the image to peek through from the inside of the card. On to the black card front base, I stamped out some images using Juicy ink and used 3 different colors of embossing powders to set the different images in.  For the Ka-Pow I used Arctic White, the stars were done using Gold Rush and the starbursts were done using the Chrome Embossing powder.

Once the front embossing was complete, I added some foam tape behind the knocked out hamster and glued him into the die cut space.

Next, I stamped out the rest of the greeting on the inside of the card using Blackout Ink again and a stamp positioner to ensure it stamped well.

For some finishing details, I added some Liquid Pixie Dust to his bruised eye and also added some Glossy Accents and highlights to the gloves.

Happy Birthday to You Balloon Shaker Card | Studio Katia

So what did you think of Studio Katia's Birthday Release? So much birthday goodness to keep you making birthday cards for this next year, right!? Loving all of it!

CARD DETAILS

For my card today, I started by blending out some Balloons using Distress Oxide inks onto a card panel using the BIRTHDAY BALLOONS DUO STENCIL. I then die cut the panel out using the frame from the DARLING RIBBON AND FRAMES DIES and then die cut the window for shaker using the larger die from the FANCY CIRCLE DIES. To the back of the panel, I glued a piece of ACETATE and added foam tape to the edges and all along the window frame.

Onto the card base, I stamped out the birthday greeting from the IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY stamp set using watermark ink and heat set it using silver embossing powder.

I then added a little mound of the PASTEL RAINBOW CONFETTI to the center of the greeting and glued the top panel to the card base, securing the sequins in the window.

To finish off the front, I die cut the little ribbon from the  SHAKER BALLOON DIE and heat set it with the same silver embossing powder. Then just drew in the balloon string with a silver gel pen.
