Snowmie Holiday Cards | Tonic Studios Stamp Club Release Hop

Hello Friends, and Happy Friday! 

It is time for another Tonic Stamp Club Release Blog Hop and this time is all about the cutest Snowmies!!! Perfect for the upcoming winter and Holiday Season!

Here is a closer look at this month's Snowmie Stamp and Die Bundle. Plus this month you get a FREE coordinating Snowmie Stencil with your purchase!

Both my cards today are Mini Slimline sized 3x6 inches. This first one features the adorable Rainbow-inspired Snowmie Family sending warm Holiday Wishes.

To make this card I began by stamping out the images, coloring them in with Copic markers, and then die-cutting them out with the coordinating dies. The rainbow dotted tree was inspired by my friend Bobbi, who is an amazing colorist and I thought this was a fun and unique way to add color to the tree. 

I then blended onto a mini slimline panel Broken China, Mermaid Lagoon, and Prize Ribbon Distress Oxide Inks and then spritzed the background with water and picked up the droplets with a paper towel to lift some of the ink. This just adds to the snowy effect. 

Another thing I did was to create a Snow Bokeh stencil by using 3 circle dies from the Slimline Envelope Creator Die Set, and blended white pigment ink over the top part of the panel. Slightly overlapping the circles to create the bokeh effect. Look closely at the sky part for them they are faint but there for extra detail. 

To the background, I applied a layer of falling snow using Worn Linen Expanding Mousse.

The sentiment was stamped in white pigment ink and embossed in white onto black cardstock. Then the rest was to glue all the elements in place. The snowflakes come from the die set. The really fun thing about these die sets is that they come with so many extra dies to stretch out the possibilities!

My favorite part of carmaking is adding embellishments and finishing details. The crystals on the snowflake centers, the white gel pen details, the glossy accents on the nose and buttons, and the chunky glitter on the tree along the bottom of the card. Yes adding these take a little more time but they are what makes your card stand out!

I am in love with this next rainbow-inspired cutie! What is it about rainbows that just make you happy?! I can't explain it but whatever it is I know it is why I do it! Rainbows bring me joy and it is why it is my favorite color!

This next mini slimline was done exactly the same as the previous card only in a vertical layout. Obviously, the images are different but the techniques were the same. To this sky, I added Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide ink along the top and I left the bottom white to give it the snow illusion. 

 

This time, rather than using snowflake die-cuts I stamped them in white onto the background. 

The bottom sentiment snow hill panel I added was a happy mistake. I actually stamped a different sentiment underneath on the card panel which wasn't the stamp I had wanted to use. So to cover it up I created a hill for the sled to sit on and added the new sentiment instead.  

Did you notice the mini slimline envelope I placed under each of the cards? They come with the two pierced plate designs and fit these cards perfectly as they measure 3.5x6.5 inches. These envelopes are part of the new also just released Slimline Envelope Creator Die Set. They also come with a bunch of tag builder dies. So I thought it would be fun to make a bunch of Christmas rainbow gift tags. 

If you look closely each tag was either finished using the coordinating Snowmie Stencil or I used the pierced plates from the Slimline Envelope Creator Die Set to add details. I also added the For You and the snowflakes that were die cut using holographic cardstock. Under each colored tag is another white tag with a pierced edging so that you can write who the gift is for.

Patterns & Prints Friendship Mixed Media Cards | Tonic Studios Stamp Club Release

Hello friends and happy FriYAY!

It's the last Friday of the month and you know what that means, it's time for another Tonic Stamp Club Release!

So welcome to the July 2021 Tonic Studios Patterns & Prints Release. If you have already joined the hop you are at the second stop and should have arrived from Maria's Blog.  I will link the complete hop list and giveaway details near the end of this post, so stay tuned for those just getting started! 

Let's take a look at the Patterns & Prints 6" x 8" stamp and die bundle. This set coordinates with the Backgrounds & Borders bundle for increased versatility (word dies can be combined and stylistically the bundles work well together).

• STAMPS: 15 total stamps in a mixed media style that is perfect for creating beautifully textured backgrounds and projects.

• 14 total dies
• Includes bold word dies that be rearranged to create new sentiments. Use in combination with the bold word dies from Backgrounds & Borders to increase your sentiment options!
• Includes four sentiment dies in a fun cursive font that have both the text and shadow dies.
• Includes two large stand-alone dies that can be used to create backgrounds, accent pieces or used as stencils to add texture to your projects.

Today's cards were inspired by my uber-talented friend Maria Willis who always creates these amazing mixed media cards. Mixed media for me is way out of my comfort zone, but seeing her gorgeous creations inspired me to try making my own. Usually, when I create I have a vision in my mind of what the final card will look like, this time I had no clue and just went with the flow, and I am really happy with the results.

CARD RECIPE

 

I began by creating the background for my cards using one piece of Bristol Paper that I later cut into the four backgrounds for my 4 cards.

• To the paper, I sprinkled on shimmer powders and then sprayed the paper with water until I was satisfied with the blending of the colors. Let the paper dry overnight or speed up the drying process with a heat tool. (The drying definitely was the hardest part for me, lol).
• Once dry, stamp on the patterns randomly using black ink.
• I then die-cut the honeycomb pattern and the grid from the die set to use for stenciling. 
• To the honeycomb areas, I used transfer gel. Once dry I then applied the foil.
• To the square grid areas, I applied Golden Era Glacier Paste and allowed it to dry.
• My final step was to splatter on the white paint.

For this card, I then die-cut the honeycomb window and created a simple shaker. Because I used chunky glitter I just used double-sided adhesive and no foam for more of a flat shaker result. 

I then used the coordinating Patterns & Prints bold and cursive font dies for the greeting.

This next card is pretty straightforward, I just glued the grid behind the bold letters and then trimmed the panel before gluing it to the white card base. 

To make the letters more visible I used a black layer behind the white bold word die cuts.

For this next card, I created a flat frameless shaker card using the A2 Shaker Creator Pockets. The die cuts were then glued to the plastic front and the insides filled with glitter magic!

Here it is all shaken up. Initially, the glitter stuck to the surface of the card front and I really couldn't see the background pattern anymore (I was kicking myself for not using antistatic powder), but the next day the static seemed to disappear and the glitter no longer stuck! Not sure if that was a fluke or if it will always lose the static after a while. Either way, I was happy the background was visible again!

This final card was super simple. One layer for each die-cut letter and then trimmed to fit onto this black piece of cardstock that I had glued to the card base.

I love the shine of the foil and the contrasting mat finish of the paste.

It's too bad that the pictures don't show how much shimmer on the background. Make sure you are following me on Instagram as I will share some videos to show you all the sparkles.
