Hello Crafty friends! Today I am honored to join some very talented Heffy Doodlers on the Heffy Doodle October Release Blog Hop.
I have a few cards featuring the very cute Prehistoric Pals (SSS|SB) to share with you. Who of you reading this today watched the Flinstones growing up? I remember running home from school for lunch every day to wolf down my lunch and watch the Flinstones. Oh, those were the good ol' days! Guess you can say I'm kinda prehistoric too, lol! For inspiration, I drew on my childhood memories as you will notice these Prehistoric Pals kinda resemble Fred and Wilma Flinstone if you remember them (Although here Fred has a beard and lost some weight and Wilma finally let her hair down). 😂
To make this card I began by stamping out the images from the Prehistoric Pals (SSS|SB) onto Neenah cardstock. I then colored them in with Copic markers and die cut them with the coordinating dies (SSS|SB). So now that all my pieces are diecut I'm going to start creating the scene. Since Fred and Wilma are going clubbing, I cut out the back seat of the log mobile and glued them in place to look like they are sitting side by side in the car. Next, I stamped out some of the rocks onto what would be the background of the card and colored them in. I then colored the night sky in beginning with the moon and gradually I intensified the blue colors as the sky got further from the moon. I colored the ground using black and very dark greys, leaving a lighter spot in the middle. I then used an alcohol-soaked towel to pick up some of the ink leaving behind some texture markings on the ground. Now that the background is colored all I did was add the stamped images onto the background using foam tape to pop them up and then added the sentiment strip to the bottom that had been stamped and heat embossed in white.
So fun! I think this will make a great card for one of my girlfriends!
I LOVE how this next card turned out. I think it is SO sweet and a great masculine card too!
For this card, again I stamped a few of the images from the Prehistoric Pals (SSS|SB), colored them in and die cut them with the coordinating dies (SSS|SB). To the mammoth, I added some gold gel pen hair like details. I love how the gold shines in real life. Next, I die cut the Stitched Stones (SSS|SB) out using a grey cardstock and then distressed the edges with Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink. I then stamped out the Cheers to you from the Whatcha Saying Now? (SSS|SB) set and then die cut the speech bubble with the coordinating die (SSS|SB). For the sentiment I stamped white pigment ink onto a black piece of cardstock and heat embossed it in white. To create the background, I used the Wildside Stencil (SSS|SB) to make this fun animal-like print pattern using Walnut Stain and Gathered Twigs Oxide Inks. All I did next was glue my pieces onto the card front using foam tape.
Well, that wraps it up for my projects so now let's talk about how you can win some Prizes!
