Honey Bee Stamps - Wow Blog Hop

Hello Crafting Friends, and welcome to a very special Blog Hop collaboration with the WOW! Embossing Powder & Honeybee Stamps. For my card today I have a created a floral friendship circle shaped card. 

To create this, I started by cutting out my card base using the Donut Card Die. I then die cut the largest circle from the Stitched Scallop Circle Dies and adhered it to the top of the card front. I then used the circle die cut from the Donut die set and glued that on top to finish off the card panel.

Next, I began to work on the details of the card. I started by stamping out the Spring Blossoms and heat setting them with the Ebony WOW! Super Fine Embossing Powder. I then used Zig Clean Clear Brush Pens to watercolor in the flowers and used the coordinating dies to die cut them out. For a bit of a "WOW" factor, I die cut the branch from the Branch and Leaves Die and used the same Ebony powder to coat the entire surface of the branch. I heat set two coats of embossing powder on the top of the branch and one underneath. Once I was happy with the finish of the branch I snipped it in a few spots and placed it behind the cluster of flowers that I had popped up onto the card. 

For the sentiments, I used a white pigment ink and heat set the letters with the WOW! Super Fine  Opaque Bright White Embossing Powder on some black cardstock. These fun sentiments come from the Love Bug stamp set.

Kobi Bearing Gifts at Your Door Card

Hello Everyone!

I am super excited to share with you my first card for Studio Katia's Blog, featuring the new Kobi Bearing Gifts Stamp Set. I wanted to create a doorway scene where Kobi is coming to your house with his arms filled with presents and balloons.

For this card, I began by coloring out Kobi and his gifts using Zig Clean Real Brush Pens and then used the Coordinating Dies to dies cut the images. Next, I worked on the card background, I wanted to make it look like Kobi was also carrying a bunch of balloons with him. So I used the Bubble Stencil and Distress Oxide inks and blended out a bunch of different sized bubbles to create the balloons in the background. For some extra sparkle, I used some multi medium matte glue and added some drops here and there to glue down some sprinkles of the Just Chunky Glitter.

Did anyone notice my doormat? In hindsight, I wished I had filmed the process, but my time is so limited these days so the next best thing I could do was to take process pics. This way you can refer to them if you want to do the same. I had so much fun making this cute little mat and it was super easy to do! 

The first thing I did was die cut the middle sized Stitch Border Die using a similarly colored piece of paper of the string I was using. I then trimmed length of the mat to a size that would fit the window of the card.  BTW, I did not use embroidery string as I didn't have the color I wanted, so I used a crochet yarn which worked just as well.  

Here is how I achieved the carpet-like effect.

• I doubled up the thread, this way it fills up the entire mat with minimal effort.
• As I worked on each row of stitches, I used a crochet needle to lift up the thread from the die cut. You could use a thin straw or a skewer to do this as well (see image below).

 

• As you can see from the above image, I have an odd number of rows. So I just did the same thing with the crochet needle and wrapped the thread around it without creating a cross stitch.

• Now that the mat is all stitched, I used a sharp pair of scissors and cut down the center of each row.  I had a few spots that the lengths of the thread were longer than others so I trimmed as I found necessary. 

• I also used strong double sided adhesive to hold the stitches in place from behind. I then removed the adhesive backing and then stuck it down to the card base. 

• Next, I added doubled up foam tape behind Kobi and adhered his feet to the carpet using some multi medium mate glue and attached the gift to the carpet/mat the same way.

To finish off this card and to create the illusion of a doorway,  I used the largest die from the Dotted Patterns: Darling Ribbon Dies and also the largest frame die from the Dotted Patterns: Set 2 Dies and used foam tape to pop up the frame. Before adhering it to the front of the card I stamped one of the sentiments from the Birthday Greetings Set.
