Honey Bee Friends Adore Him | Christmas Nativity Scene Card

Hey All!

As I was looking through my Honey Bee Stamp sets the other day I realized that I didn't have much in the way of Christmas Stamps and then it came to me 😲 I had this huge Adore Him Sentiment stamp, and as I was brainstorming, a Nativity Scene came to mind. And so, I gathered all my farm animal stamps and began working on this Honey Bee Friends Christmas Nativity Scene Card. 

To make this card I started off by stamping out Pinky the Pig and then masked him off to stamp Lily the Lamb next to him. I then also masked the lamb to stamp out the Llama above them. To create the manger, I stamped out the top half of the basket from the Bushel and Peck set. The stamped little blanket comes from the No Probllama set. Since the Three Wise Men brought gifts for baby Jesus I thought it would be cute to have Pinky offer Him a donut. So I stamped out and die cut a donut to place in Pinky's hooves.

The images were all colored in using Copic Markers. (Copic list: Colorless Blender 0, C1, C3, C5, N0, B05, B28, B69, R20, R22, RV10, Y08, E00, E11, E15, E18, E29, E37, E93) Once I was done coloring, I used coordinating dies to die cut the animals by doing some partial die cutting. What I could die cut, I then fussy cut by hand.

Next, I created the background by adding Black Soot to the edges of a dark blue piece of cardstock cut to 4.25 X 8.5 inches. To the background, I added white spatters and stamped out the Adore Him Sentiment in the top left corner. Once the background was complete I glued down the animals to the background piece and then popped up the manger using foam tape.

I then added the finishing details by gluing some Rainbow Rhinestone crystals to the sky, glossy accents to their eyes, noses and the glazed donut, and by adding some stars to the sky using a white gel pen.

Farm Animal Friendship Card

Hey friends!

Today I have a super sweet Farm Animal friendship card to share with you featuring a bunch of cute supplies from Honey Bee Stamps. 

Most of the card was created by paper piecing all the elements together and there was actually very little stamping involved. I started by cutting out the pieces for Pinky the Pig out of some very pale pink paper. I then use some grey scraps and die cut the little pieces out for the hooves. I then glued all the pieces down to a black piece of cardstock that I had trimmed to the shape of the pig. To add a bit more dimension to Pinky's face I added another layer for his nose and die cut his eyes out from black paper and glued them in place. I then added some rosy cheeks by using a detail blending tool and adding some Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Ink. To finish him off I added some white to the center of his eyes and cheeks. I repeated a similar process for piecing together Lily the Lamb. 

To build the scene, I began by die cutting my square panel using the largest double Stitched Square Die from Bristol paper. Next, I used Broken China Distress Oxide ink to blend out the background behind the animals. I then die cut 3 strips of grass using the grass border die stacked and glued them together and then ran them through the die cutter again with the square stitched die to clean up the edges. To create the swinging fence, I used the Farm Fences die which I cut and glued two layers thick using the bottom layer of the fence posts. I then die cut extra pieces of the bottom layer to connect and extend the length of the fences.

I wanted the fence to be able to open and close on the card front, so I made sure that one of the fence posts overlapped the other. To secure the fences to the sides of the card, I die cut 2 more bottom fence dies, folded and glued a couple of the posts behind the card panel, then bent the rest of the posts to the front of the card. Before doing that, I did cut very thin strips of paper to reinforce the tiny pieces of the fence along the bend. Once the fences were glued in place I added the top layer of the farm fence dies and distressed them a little with some ink. To create the closure, I just punched a hole through the fence post that overlaps the bottom fence and added a brad. By turning the head of the brad you can then open or close the fence as the leg catches on the other side of the fence to hold it in place.

Before gluing Pinky and Lily in place I stamped out the sentiment by masking half of the Small Gang Stamp on the top right of the card and then stamping the rest of the greeting on the inside of the card. I used Broken China Distress Oxide to stamp out the sentiment and heat set it with a clear embossing powder.
