Water Coloring Christmas Outfit Critters with Shimmer Powders | Tonic Studio

Happy Remembrance Day Friends and I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I am super excited to be also posting on the Tonic Studio Blog today!

So are you all getting into the Holiday Spirit yet? I am itching to get my Christmas Decor up as we had our first snowfall here in Edmonton (Alberta, Canada) and it is starting to look a lot like Christmas. Well even if my house isn't decorated yet, my crafty area definitely feels like Christmas as all I see these days are Christmas Cards in the making, like this super cute one I am sharing with you all today.

  CARD DETAILS

For my card today I decided to play with the CELEBRATE LIFE stamps US | UK and paired them with the FREE digital download stamps CHRISTMAS OUTFITS to dress up these cute critters for the Holidays. (Download yours now to dress up any of your Garden Party Critters US | UK)

To begin, I printed off the CHRISTMAS OUTFITS first onto Bristol paper, I then stamped the Critters and present images I wanted to use onto the empty spaces of the printed sheet.

Next, I added a very small amount of Shimmer Powder (colors used listed at the end of the post) to the wells of a paint palette. I then added a few drops of water and mixed up the powder to create a shimmery paint. I then used a water brush to paint in all the images. (I will have links at the end of the post of all the supplies today.) Once the images were colored in I used the ScanNCut to die cut the images out.

To embellish the tree, I thought it would be fun to add some dimension using Nuvo Drops (see links at the end of the post).

Here are a few close-up photos of these shimmery Christmas cuties! To a few of the Critter images, I cut off the arms to dress them in sweaters like the little bear below.

This slimline finished card measures 8 1/2 inches long by 4 inches wide. To add some shine to their noses, cheeks, eyes, etc. I added drops of glossy accents.

Here is what the card looks like when the sunlight hits it. I love how the Shimmer Powders are so amazing and versatile to use. Aren't these colors so pretty with all the sparkles?!

Have you tried coloring with the Tonic Shimmer powders yet? It feels like coloring with metallic watercolors, the finish is so sparkly! I hope you will give this a try I had so much fun water coloring with them.

CAS Happy Holidays Card | Studio Katia

Well hello, again friends!

Today I have the perfect card to mass-produce for the Holidays! It was one of those cards that came together so easily and so quickly that I have to share with you my process.

CARD DETAILS

To start I die cut a piece of green and red cardstock out using the HALF STRIPED COVER. I then flipped over the die-cut green layer and glued it to the red layer. Because you will be seeing the underside of the die-cut piece, make sure your cutting plates are new or smooth, or you can use a piece of cardstock underneath to avoid the transfer of impressions onto the paper.

I then glued the panel onto the card base.

Next, I stamped out the Happy Holidays stamp from the GIFT TAG GREETINGS:WINTER onto black cardstock and then white heat embossed the letters, trimmed the piece out and then added to the center of the card front.

To finish off the card and to make it look like a present, I added the die-cut bow from the ELEGANT SCALLOP OVAL die set and glued an ICY SPARKLE CRYSTAL to the bow.

Poinsettia Petal Gatefold Christmas Card | Honey Bee Stamps

Hello, my friends and welcome back to my blog!

If you love to die cut and paper piece, this is a great card for you as there was no coloring involved unless you count some ink blending. I think this design and the gatefold surprise element would wow anyone receiving it!

  CARD DETAILS

To start off this card I began by die cutting the card base and a few of the other pieces from the FLOWER PETAL CARD DIE set. I did not cut out any petals from the set as I wanted to create my own petals using the Poinsettia dies.

I then used the circle die cut piece as a guide for how large to make my poinsettia. To start the poinsettia I began by die cutting the poinsettia layers for the center of the card using the WINTER BOUQUET DIES. I used the DETAIL BLENDER BRUSH, to ink up the tips of each petal using Black Soot Distress Oxide ink. I then stacked and glued the initial layers of the flower using foam tape in between to add some dimension to the center. To add even more dimension I slightly squeezed each petal to lift the edges making it look more realistic.

To enlarge the poinsettia and cover up the circle that I had die cut previously, I die cut the largest poinsettia about 5 more times to create the petals I needed to build out the flower. I first inked up the petals and then snipped each petal off by cutting toward the center of the flower. See the image below. Each poinsettia gave me 5 large petals to use.

I then flipped the poinsettia center that I had previously glued together and began filling and gluing petals along the outer edge of the flower until I had enough to cover up the circle. This ended up being about 3 more outer layers. Once that was done I glued the poinsettia down to the circle and set it aside to work on the rest of the card.

The FLOWER PETAL CARD DIES include the shape of a flower petal flap that I had die cut using green cardstock and glued to each side. Since I wasn't using the petals that were meant to cover up the die cut piece, I just die cut winter foliage using various dies from the WINTER BOUQUET DIES and glued those pieces along the petal edge instead. To the pine cones and to the evergreen bunches I used a Quickie glue pen to add fine glue lines to the paper and then sprinkled on some glitter.

I then glued the poinsettia that I had previously made onto the right side of the card finishing off the right flap. To complete the left side, I die-cut a circle using green cardstock to cover up the edges of the foliage on the left flap and then trimmed off the excess that hung over the edge.

Next,  I stamped out a partial greeting on the left side using a stamp from the CHRISTMAS BLESSINGS stamp set. In hindsight, I wish I had stamped my sentiment first before gluing this piece in place as I had a hard time stamping it out afterward. It was just awkward to place the bulky card in the stamp positioner at this point.

Once both flaps of the card are pulled open, you finally see the Christmas Greeting on the inside of the card. The Merry Christmas stamp I used here also comes from the CHRISTMAS BLESSINGS stamp set.

When the card is closed it lays pretty flat, but because of all the layers, it likes to spring up a little. To solve that and to give it that extra element of surprise I just tied a satin ribbon around the bottom of the card creating a little belly band.
