3D Easter Daffodil Vase Framed Paper Art | SVGCuts

It's time again for the SVG Cuts Spring Facebook Challenge! The Challenge is to use elements from the chosen kits/collections ONLY and create a 2D or 3D project.

This time I wanted to keep my project clean and simple! Here is what I came up with! Isn't it pretty!?! I used a RIBBA frame from IKEA, removed the glass and the mat, and just placed it in behind the art for later use... smart right? You could use this frame over and over again and change it with your holidays!

Here it is sitting in our wall alcove...

This project is perfect for Spring and the upcoming Easter Holiday! The daffodils that Mary (designer of these files from SVG Cuts) created are so gorgeous and realistic! Who knew that simple plain paper could look this amazing! These flowers come from the 3D Flowers SVG Kit here.

Here is a closer look! Can you say WOW!!! And yet so easy to create!

And how about the vase that the flowers are in? I would have never guessed it came from a Halloween Apothecary jar from TOIL AND TROUBLE KIT here! I adjusted the sizes of my files so that the finished results would fit nicely in the frame. I also cut a few panels off the file so that I could mount it flat. The vase stands 5" tall.

And this banner, how adorable is it? Love the buttons! The banner comes from here.

The picture above shows you what it looks like hanging on a wall.

Here are the kits and supplies I used for this project...

Twine from American Crafts
Paper from Recollections
Green Floral Wire
Cuttlebug and Polka Dot embossing folder
Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive
Hot Glue and Gun

Well, hope you like my little Spring project! I LOVE how it all came together, wish me luck!!! And, if you haven't entered there’s still time to get your entry in! Good luck! Thanks for stopping by.

3D Hot Air Balloon Treat Box File | SVG /.Studio Freebie File

Hello everybody! I'm am so excited to share with you today's post, especially with those of you that have the paper crafting bug! Remember my Hot Air Balloon I created last year? No?!? Click here to jog your memory!

Recently, I have a lot of interest in the request of this file. Thanks to a lovely lady that recently requested it and used it on her blog. Thanks, Dawn from Dawns Designs that Delight! Check out her version of the balloon here!

Unfortunately for many electronic users out there, this was not an SVG file, rather I had made it with the Sure Cuts A Lot software. Since receiving so much recent interest I thought I would share it with the rest of you die-hard SVG lovers! Also, since I just celebrated 1 year that I started my blog last week, I thought this would be the perfect gift for all my followers! I also made the .studio file for Silhouette users. The files have been slightly modified and improved from the original SCAL file. I used the .studio file to create the balloon displayed below.

Here you see the balloon opened up... great for little treats! This would make the perfect summertime gift for someone special! This would also make a great table centerpiece for a birthday party or baby shower! Enlarge the pieces and fill the bottom portion with some weights to keep it from being knocked over!

The paper I used comes from DCWV The Kidlet Stack, all cut on the Silhouette  Cameo.

Embellish to your liking! Buttons, twine, ribbon, tape... whatever you like... it's hard to go wrong! I love the little Flair button I used here "be happy" from Paper Play Studio. Too cute!

DIY Desk Organizer | Using Recycled Tin Cans

I love quick and easy projects! For today's post, I want to share with you all the coolest stationary desktop organizer!

Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, isn't it WILD! Love leopard print don't you?!!!

DIY Desk Organizer | Using Recycled Tin Cans

I was so excited when I found this printed duct tape at the Dollar Store. I couldn't believe it! I picked up the last leopard print roll!

DIY Desk Organizer | Using Recycled Tin Cans

Supplies:
Duct tape
Ribbon
Empty tin cans
Hot Glue Gun
Velcro dots

DIY Desk Organizer | Using Recycled Tin Cans

This project is so easy I really don't think it needs much explanation. I used two strips of duct tape on each can, aligning the edge of the tape to the top and the bottom edges on the can. This left a gap right in the center on the can. Perfect and the exact size I needed for the ribbon I used. I finished each can by hot-gluing ribbon to the tops and bottoms of the cans. Once all the cans were finished I secured them all together with another ribbon.

DIY Desk Organizer | Using Recycled Tin Cans

For the top tuna can, I did the same but then used some Velcro dots to secure to the top center of the other cans.

I hope this inspires you to create and organize your own desk using some recycled cans and cool print duct tape!

The file comes from SVGCuts For My Valentine SVG Kit I love this file... so easy to put together! Cut with the Silhouette Cameo. The Paper is from DCWV Garden Party Stack. Stamps are alphabet letters Studio G. The Flair Button comes from Paper Play Studio... these awesome little beauties are made by SVGCuts designer, one and only Tamara!

Here is my blue version of the Mailbox for my son's Teacher.  Same files, the same treats, the only difference is this paper collection comes from DCWV's Gilded Orchard Stack, and I used the Epiphany Crafts Shape Studio Tool (Round 25) to create the gold button on the lid!

Ombré Princess Cake | DIY Cake

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!

This post was pre-scheduled... right now I should be enjoying the fabulous birthday party for a very special little princess named Annabella!  Today she is 5. Her mom, a very good friend of ours asked if I would make her a birthday cake... I knew exactly what I was going to make. Since she planning a princess theme, I thought an ombré cake would be perfect for the occasion. For those of you that haven't heard this term, it means having colors or tones that shade into each other.

Ombré Princess Cake | DIY Cake

So what do you think? Isn't it fabulous?!? I LOVE how it turned out. SO happy, hope the birthday girl loves it as much as I do!

Ombré Princess Cake | DIY Cake

Very Girly! The tiara on top is the perfect keepsake for the birthday girl!
Happy Birthday, Annabella!

Ombré Princess Cake | DIY Cake

The cake is about 10 inches high and 7 inches wide. The top layers are butter pecan and the bottom layers are chocolate cake. All covered with a vanilla buttercream icing and finished with fondant.  To get the ombré look I started with six equal pieces of white fondant and kept adding more pink to each layer, then gradually introducing more and more purple.

Thanks for stopping by, I have a feeling this won't be my last ombré cake!

Have a great weekend :)

Heart Shaped Macaroons and Recipe for Valentines Day

Are you all in a Valentine's mood yet? I sure am... I got hearts in my mind!

The last time I made macaroons I was so excited that they actually turned out, that I just had to try making them again... this time since Valentine's Day is around the corner I thought I would make them in the shape of a heart.

Aren't they adorable? To make the heart, I just piped them out in a "V" shape.

Heart Shaped Macaroons and Recipe for Valentines Day

Seriously could they be any cuter? This time I used a chocolate ganache filling.... sooooo yummy!

DIY Christmas Ornaments | Turning Old Christmas Post Cards into Ornaments

Are you all done taking down your Christmas decor... I'm slowly starting on mine. I sure am going to miss the twinkle lights all around the house 😔

I hate to admit this, but I have kept all the Christmas cards since we have been married... That's 14 years worth! I swear I'm not a hoarder, craft supplies don't count!  I just hate to throw them out only because so many of them are personal picture greeting cards. There is something wrong about throwing other people's picture away! Or is that just me! So finally I figured out what to do with them all. I've seen many of these ornaments all over Pinterest and figured this would be the perfect way to save those picture greeting cards for many years to come.

DIY Christmas Ornaments | Turning Old Christmas Post Cards into Ornaments

Today I will share with you a pictorial of how I made my ornament with the greeting cards we received this year.

DIY Christmas Ornaments | Turning Old Christmas Post Cards into Ornaments

I used a 2.5-inch diameter circle punch for my circle cutouts.

I used my Scotch-Advanced-Tape-Glider to glue the ornament together. Regular white glue was taking too long to dry, so I wiped it off. Worked way easier with the double-sided tape.

Now I need to find time to make another 13 years worth... Wish me luck, hopefully, I'll be done by next Christmas! Thanks for stopping by :)

DIY Button Rack | Recycled Spice Rack

I bet many of you have the same old expired spice rack somewhere in your pantry! I know I did for years... I used maybe 3 or 4 of the spices on it and the rest... yuck... expired! All it did was take up room and collected grease and dust! I think I'm a pretty good cook but some of these spices I hadn't even heard of! So just before I was about to get rid of it I thought why not repurpose it?! It makes the perfect place for all my buttons... So out with the spices and in with the buttons!
DIY Button Rack | Recycled Spice Rack

After a good cleaning, I sorted all the buttons I had by color.  Before my buttons were in little baggies and out of sight, now I can see all the pretty colors! I also peeled off all the greasy spice labels and glued on the top of the bottles a black circle that I cut out with a punch. I haven't decided whether or not yet to glue a coordinating button on the outside yet... we shall see :)

Hope you like the spice rack makeover... what is your spice rack doing? This would also be a great idea for all those little crafty/office supplies, or maybe even for hubby's garage nails... Ok, only if your feeling really generous, lol!

Happy Crafting everyone,

KEEP CALM AND CRAFT ON | DIY Peg Board Painting

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

I hope you all are enjoying the first day of 2013! I can't believe how fast 2012 went for me... what a ride!

Today I want to share with you something I had been wanting to make for a very long time. Probably ever since I first heard the phrase "Keep Calm and Craft on". So a few weeks ago when all the Christmas chaos was happening,  I decided to make a pegboard painting for my craft room!

I had been working on a baby announcement painting at the time and since all my supplies were out I thought I would kill two birds with the same paintbrush, lol! I was so busy though I completely forgot to photograph the baby announcement painting to show you  :'(

Here it is! Isn't it awesome!!! I love how it turned out and how it keeps my stuff pretty and organized all in plain sight for easy access! I think it's one of my best ideas yet!

KEEP CALM AND CRAFT ON | DIY Peg Board Painting

To make my pegboard painting I first painted the canvas. Click here for a tutorial of how I make my word art paintings.

KEEP CALM AND CRAFT ON | DIY Peg Board Painting

Once the painting was dry, I hammered in 2-inch nails all around the frame of the canvas. Yes, of course damaging the painting... I had mixed feelings at this point cause I really liked how the painting turned out... but got over it pretty quick once I saw how functional it became!

KEEP CALM AND CRAFT ON | DIY Peg Board Painting

Here it is all nailed up before my supplies were all hung.

Hope you liked this tutorial/idea... maybe it will inspire you to create one for your craft room! I hope this painting will keep me calm in 2013 while I continue to craft on!
