Gray Skies Bring Sunny Days - DIY Shaker Card | November Picket Fence Studios Release

Adorable handmade shaker card featuring a bunny and raccoon sharing a colorful umbrella on a rainy day, with sparkly clouds, a stone wall, and shaker sequins, created using Picket Fence Studios November release products.

Hello, crafty friends! I'm excited to share my latest project, a whimsical shaker card featuring the adorable "Bad Weather Friends" from the brand-new November Picket Fence Studios release. This card is part of an Instagram hop to celebrate the release, where you can hop along for some fantastic inspiration. And there's an extra treat—a $50 Gift Card is up for grabs for one lucky winner chosen from the entire hop! Be sure to head over to Instagram to join in the fun and enter.

CARD RECIPE

Background and CloudsFirst I added a light layer of grey ink to the sky. I then began by creating a cloudy background using the Cloudy Day Stencil. The clouds are brought to life with a touch of shimmer from the Twinkle Lights Silver Paper Glaze, applied with a Mixed Media Spatula for a smooth, even finish. This glaze adds a perfect touch of sparkle, making the clouds stand out against the rest of the scene. Set aside to dry.

Stone Wall Texture: The stone wall at the bottom was created using the new Beyond Basics A2 Vintage Rectangles and Cover Plates. Distress Oxide Inks helped achieve a realistic stone texture, which grounds the scene and adds a cozy, rainy-day feel. I trimmed the piece and added it to the bottom of the scene.

Critters and Sentiment: The little critters sharing an umbrella are from the Bad Weather Friends Stamp Set. I stamped them with PFS Black Hybrid Ink for a sharp, clear image, then colored them with Copic Markers for a vibrant, cheerful look, and added white gel pen details for highlights. I then used the coordinating dies to cut out the critters. The sentiment "Gray Skies Bring Sunny Days" is stamped to the side, echoing the card’s theme of hope and resilience.

Shaker Elements: To make this a shaker card, I used DIY Shaker Sheets to create the shaker pocket. Inside, I added a mix of Iridescent Moonshine Sequins for a bit of sparkle, and Day and Night Gems to represent raindrops. The result is a dynamic, interactive element that adds extra fun to the card.

Finishing Touches: Glue the critters to the top of the shaker window, and then glue the shaker panel to a Beyond Basics A2 Vintage Rectangle Frame. Finally, attach it to a card base.

Mini Holiday Floral Shaker Card | Honey Bee Stamps

Festive holiday shaker card featuring layered pink and red floral die-cuts, a textured brick background, gingham patterned paper in the shaker window, and a "Happy Holidays" sentiment. Embellished with pearl stickers and glitter for added sparkle.

Hello, crafty friends! Today, I'm sharing a festive shaker card I created for Honey Bee Stamps using mostly new goodies from the Cozy Christmas Release. This project combines some lovely floral layers with a cozy, textured background, perfect for sending "Happy Holidays" wishes. Let’s dive into the details of how I brought this card to life!

CARD RECIPE
  • Layering Vintage Labels Honey Cuts – Frame for the shaker window
  • Rustic Brick Wall 3D Embossing Folder – Embossed background
  • Gingerbread Village Paper Pad – Background patterned paper
  • Cello Sheets – To create the shaker window
  • Great Greetings: Holiday Honey Cuts – Sentiment
  • Lovely Layers: Mini Holiday Florals Honey Cuts – Floral elements
  • Bee Creative Clear Embossing Ink & Clear Embossing Powder – For the sentiment's glossy finish
  • Gingerbread Pearl Stickers – As embellishments
  • Prisma Glitter – Added sparkle to the florals
  • Iridescent Chunky Confetti – For the shaker filler (discontinued product, link to similar product)
  • Copic Pigment - White Splatter

  • Lovely Layered Florals

For a beautiful floral touch, I used the Lovely Layers: Mini Holiday Florals Honey CutsAfter die-cutting, I ink-blended each piece and added extra depth with Copic markers, and then I splattered white ink to enhance the wintry feel. Once assembled, I set the floral elements aside to work on the shaker frame.

    Creating the Shaker Front

To create the front of the shaker, I die-cut the largest frame from the Layering Vintage Labels Honey Cuts out of white cardstock. Next, I ran it through the Rustic Brick Wall 3D Embossing Folder to add cozy brick detailing to the card front. Then I set this piece aside while I prepared the background.

    Building the Background

For warmth and a rustic touch, I selected a charming gingham pattern from the Gingerbread Village Paper Pad for the background. I trimmed the paper slightly larger than the window opening, added the shaker bits in the center, and adhered a cello sheet over the area using liquid glue along the perimeter. Since these shaker bits add minimal bulk, foam tape wasn’t necessary. Finally, I attached this piece behind the shaker window, creating a charming holiday scene, and adhered it to the card base.

Festive holiday shaker card featuring layered pink and red floral die-cuts, a textured brick background, gingham patterned paper in the shaker window, and a "Happy Holidays" sentiment. Embellished with pearl stickers and glitter for added sparkle.

    Adding the Florals

With the shaker component in place, I arranged the floral elements from the previous steps around the card. I used foam adhesive to elevate some of the pieces, giving the design depth and dimension.

    Sentiment

For the "Happy Holidays" sentiment, I used the Great Greetings: Holiday Honey Cuts. To give the letters a glossy, dimensional look, I applied Bee Creative Clear Embossing Ink and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. This subtle shine makes the sentiment pop against the background, adding thickness and rigidity to the die cuts.

    Final Touches
For the finishing touches, I applied Prisma Glitter to parts of the florals, adding a festive sparkle. I also used Gingerbread Pearl Stickers as embellishments to enhance the holiday feel. These small details bring the card to life, making it perfect for spreading holiday cheer!

Nativity Christmas Card with a Detachable Ornament | Pixie Pust Designs

A handmade Christmas card featuring a detachable Nativity scene ornament in a hexagonal frame. The ornament depicts silhouettes of Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus in a stable, with a red ribbon bow and silver hanging cord at the top. The sentiment "From Our House to Yours" is stamped on vellum in the background, adding a heartfelt touch. Glitter accents on the star bring sparkle to the design, making this card both festive and functional as a holiday keepsake.

Today, I’m sharing a special project featuring a unique Christmas card that doubles as a keepsake ornament! This card is not only a beautiful greeting but also an ornament for your recipient to hang on their Christmas tree, making it a delightful holiday surprise. Let’s take a closer look at the products I used and the creative steps behind this dual-purpose card.

    CARD RECIPE

Hexagon and Nativity Ornament Add-On Die Bundle - Dies

Gingy Dress Up Stamp Set - for the sentiment

    Cardstock - in various colors

    Vellum - Background

VersaFine ONYX BLACK Ink - ink

Red ribbon - for the bow

    Silver cord - for hanging

    Prima Glitter - Star

The main feature of this card is the Nativity scene ornament, created using the Hexagon and Nativity Ornament Add-On Die Bundle. I loved how this die set allowed me to craft a detailed silhouette of Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus within the stable. The hexagonal shape brings a modern touch to this classic holiday scene, and it works beautifully as both a card focal point and a tree ornament.

To keep the ornament thin enough for easy mailing, I used fewer layers than a typical standalone ornament, ensuring it remains lightweight while still having a finished look.

    Step-by-Step Process:

    1. Die-Cutting the OrnamentHexagon and Nativity Ornament Add-On Die Bundle dies, I cut out the main frames for the ornament. For the layered look, I trimmed the tabs from the baby Jesus layer, then stacked and glued the layers together to add depth without bulk.

    2. Adding a Sentiment: The sentiment "From Our House to Yours" from the Gingy Dress Up Stamp Set was stamped in VersaFine ONYX BLACK Ink onto a vellum layer. I chose this sentiment because it beautifully captures the spirit of sharing love and peace with family and friends during the holiday season. Be sure to let the ink dry completely on vellum to avoid smudging.

    3. Assembly: I adhered the vellum layer with the sentiment to the back of the hexagon Nativity scene, centering it for a soft, diffused background effect. After trimming the vellum to match the hexagon shape, I added another die-cut layer behind it to create a polished back. For a clean finish on the front, I attached the hexagon frame from the Hexagon Ornament Die set, and sandwiched the silver cord in between layers for a secure hanging loop.

    4. Ornament Details: To add a touch of sparkle, I applied glue to the star and sprinkled it with Prisma fine glitter, adding a subtle, festive shimmer. The silver cord was threaded through the top, and a red bow was added for an extra holiday touch. The ornament is attached to the card base with a glue dot, making it easy to detach for hanging on the Christmas tree.

    5. Final Touches: The completed ornament is ready to be displayed on a card that transforms into a cherished Christmas decoration. By making this ornament detachable, the card offers a gift within a gift, creating a joyful surprise that can be enjoyed year after year.

One of the best parts of this card is that after receiving it, the recipient can remove the ornament and hang it on their tree. This card design not only brings joy in the moment but also creates a lasting memory that can be cherished each year.

A red ribbon bow and silver cord complete the ornament for easy hanging. The sentiment "From Our House to Yours" is visible on vellum, adding a warm holiday message. Sparkling glitter on the star enhances the charm of this meaningful holiday decoration.

Thank you for joining me as I shared this Nativity ornament card! I hope this project inspires you to create heartfelt, dual-purpose cards for the season. Until next time... Happy Crafting!

Retro Gamer Birthday Card | Hero Arts + Ralph Tyndall

Handmade interactive retro gaming card featuring a Game Boy-inspired design. The card has vibrant splatters of pink, yellow, green, and blue, with interchangeable game cartridges. Sentiments include "New Level Unlocked - AMAZING!" and "You're the only person I'll let be Player One." Embellished with heart and star details, the card has a playful, nostalgic '90s vibe.

    Hey there, crafty friends!

Today, I’m sharing a super fun project that’s sure to bring a smile to any gamer’s face! I recently got my hands on the new Hero Arts + Ralph Tyndall Retro Game Fancy Dies, and I couldn’t wait to dive in and create this nostalgic, interactive birthday card. The set is designed to instantly spark joy for anyone who loves retro video games (hello, '90s kids!), and it gave me so many creative options to play with.

    Card Design Overview

For this project, I wanted to capture the full '90s gaming vibe, so I started by die-cutting the main video game console face. The die set includes everything you need to create a super authentic look, from the directional pad and buttons to a game cartridge that you can actually switch out!

Tip: Before snipping the dies apart, I used a template technique. I first die-cut the face of the console in one solid piece to help with the exact placement of all the buttons and details. This made it super easy to piece everything together on my final card.

    CARD RECIPE

Hero Arts + Ralph Tyndall Retro Game Fancy Dies

HA + RT Retro Game Stamps

Intens-ified Black Ink Pad - Black stamped ink

    Clear Card Panels - Acetate

Distress Oxide Inks - Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron, and Hickory Smoke

Distress Spritz - front panel - Picked Raspberry, Fossilized Amber, Twisted Citron and

    Peacock Feathers

    Foam Tape

Handmade interactive retro gaming card featuring a Game Boy-inspired design. The card has vibrant splatters of pink, yellow, green, and blue, with interchangeable game cartridges. Sentiments include "New Level Unlocked - AMAZING!" and "You're the only person I'll let be Player One." Embellished with heart and star details, the card has a playful, nostalgic '90s vibe.

    Creating the 90’s Vibe Panel

For that classic, retro look, I used Distress Sprays in a few fun colors:

    • Fossilized Amber
    • Picked Raspberry
    • Twisted Citron
    • Peacock Feathers

I spritzed the top panel with these colors to give it that vibrant, splattered effect that just screams '90s arcade! The mix of neon and bright colors instantly gave the card an upbeat, nostalgic feel. You can also see a little splatter around the edges, which adds to that playful, carefree gamer energy. This also add a touch of shimmer!

    Interactive Cartridge Fun!

What really makes this card interactive and unique are the game cartridges. The die set includes a cartridge die, and I made three interchangeable cartridges for this card! The recipient can swap them out for different messages depending on the occasion (or their mood). For this version, I went with a birthday theme, but you could easily change it up for a love note, a thank you card, or even a fun holiday message. These fun stamps come from the coordinating HA + RT Retro Game Stamps.

    • Sentiments: I stamped phrases like "New Level Unlocked - AMAZING!" and "You're the only person I'll let be Player One" to keep with the gaming theme. The options are endless, and it's such a fun interactive element for your cards!

Sentiments include "New Level Unlocked - AMAZING!" and "You're the only person I'll let be Player One." Embellished with heart and star details, the card has a playful, nostalgic '90s vibe.

    Adding Dimension with Foam Tape

To ensure that the cartridges would easily slide in and out, I used double layers of foam tape around the edges of the game console screen. This created the perfect amount of space for the interactive element to work smoothly. I also mounted the console panel onto a shaped card base to give it that classic Game Boy look, making the whole card feel cohesive.

    Final Touches

Of course, I had to finish it off with some playful embellishments, including bright heart and star details. These little extras really tie everything together and add that extra level of fun.

This project was such a blast to make, and I hope it inspires you to bring some retro gaming magic to your next card! Whether you’re crafting for a fellow gamer or just want to create something interactive and unique, this die set is an absolute must-have.

Fun and Pool-Themed Card | Hero Arts + Ralph Tyndall

A handmade card featuring a green pool table background with colorful pool balls in red, yellow, and blue at the corners. The focal point is a black eight ball designed to resemble a mix of a pool ball and a Magic 8 ball. The eight ball has a glossy finish, and the sentiment curves above it, reading "I'm not saying you're getting old, but...". Inside the Magic 8 ball, the text reads, "It seems so, yes." The card has a playful and masculine design, perfect for a birthday or fun occasion

Today, I’m excited to share a new project featuring the Ralph Tyndall + Hero Arts Interactive Eight-Ball Fancy Dies from their latest release! If you’re looking for a fun, quirky card with a masculine touch, this card is perfect—designed to resemble a pool table and combining the playful vibe of a Magic 8 ball.

    CARD RECIPE

    How I Created the Card:

I started by cutting out the eight-ball using the HA + RT Interactive Eight-Ball Fancy Dies, mixing the elements of a traditional pool ball and the iconic Magic 8 ball. To make it pop, I added glossy accents to the eight-ball, which gave it a sleek, shiny appearance—just like a real pool ball.

The card itself is built on a bold green background, mimicking a pool table surface. I added pops of color by placing partial circles of other pool balls in red, yellow, and blue around the edges. These contrasting colors draw the eye toward the central eight-ball.

The focal point is a black eight ball designed to resemble a mix of a pool ball and a Magic 8 ball. The card has a playful and masculine design, perfect for a birthday or fun occasion.

    Sentiment Details:

For the sentiment, I used the curved "I'm not saying you're getting old, but..." stamp from the set. This was stamped in black using the Hero Arts Intens-ified Black Ink Pad, which gives a crisp, bold look that stands out against the green background. The triangle inside the eight-ball reads “It seems so, yes,” adding a humorous twist that fits the playful nature of the Magic 8-ball theme. The sentiment inside completes the Birthday card.

    Finishing Touches:

I love how the glossy finish on the eight-ball creates a realistic look, making this card extra special. It's a great card for guys, whether it's for a birthday or just for fun!

Hello My Friend Card | Picket Fence Studios October Release

Picket Fence Studios, October 2024 Release, friendship card, handmade card, Instagram hop, giveaway, Baby Critters Stamps, Beyond Basics A2 Rectangle Dies, Cheers My Friend Word Dies, Hello To You Word Dies, heart cover plate, Thunderstorm Gems, Yellow Primerose Paper Glaze, Huckleberry Paper Glaze, cardmaking, papercraft, DIY

Hello Friends, yes I am back with another card today! 2 posts in one day... feast or famine around here, lol!

This time I’m excited to share this sweet friendship card I made using some of the fabulous products from the new Picket Fence Studios October 2024 Release! This card is also part of an Instagram hop, where TWO lucky winners will be chosen! One winner will receive a $50 Gift Card, and the other will win a Paper Pouncers Bundle! 🎁

It was a joy combining these new and older items to create a heartfelt “hello, my friend” card, perfect for sending love and connection to a dear friend.

    CARD RECIPE

Quilted Heart Frame - Beyond Basics A2 Rectangle and Cover Plate Dies

Stamped Cuties - Baby Critters Stamps and Dies
Largest background panel -Yellow Primerose Paper Glaze
Second Panel - Huckleberry Paper Glaze

    Card Details:

    Heart Cover Plate Background:
To start, I used the Beyond Basics A2 Rectangle and Cover Plate Dies, choosing the heart cover plate layer for the background. The delicate, repeated heart pattern adds a whimsical and heartwarming touch to the card. For a pop of color, I die-cut this layer in white cardstock and backed it with a beautiful blue panel created with Huckleberry Paper Glaze. This contrast of blue with white really highlights the hearts!

    Adorable Critters:
The sweet little critters are from the Baby Critters Stamps and Dies set (an older Picket Fence Studios product). I stamped and colored these cuties, giving them soft, warm tones with Copic markers to add extra cuteness. I adhered them to the card with foam adhesive for dimension, placing them above the sentiment. To make the critters even more lovable, I added a tiny pink heart die-cut between them, fitting perfectly into one of the heart openings from the cover plate.

    Lovely Sentiment Layers:
For the sentiment, I used two different die sets to create a layered greeting. The bold "hello" is from the Hello To You Word Die Set (older product), cut in black and adhered to a layer of vellum for softness. Below that, I added "my friend" using the Cheers My Friend Word Die Set from this new release. The combination of these two word dies makes for a friendly and inviting sentiment that anchors the card.

    Background Layers:
For the base layer, I used Yellow Primerose Paper Glaze, which brings in a soft, glowing yellow hue. It gives a cheerful, sunny vibe to the card and plays nicely with the Huckleberry Paper Glaze. I love how the paper glazes create a smooth and polished look while offering rich, bold color.

    Sparkling Finishing Touches:
No card is complete without a little sparkle! I used Thunderstorm Gems scattered around the cover plate layer to add a bit of shine and bling. These gems catch the light beautifully, enhancing the overall card design without overpowering the sentiment or critters.

    Cutting the Bat:
Start by die-cutting the pieces for the bat using the Lovely Layers: Bat Dies. I chose a mix of dark gray and black cardstock to give the bat a spooky yet cute look. You will have to cut two of each piece to finish off both sides of the bat. Attach a clear thread down the center of the front bat before gluing on the back die-cut pieces. You will have to use the bad side of the die cuts so that the die cuts line up with the front. Trim anything that doesn't line up if necessary.

    Background Design:
For the background, I selected a skull-and-heart pattern from the Sweet & Spooky Paper Pad. The contrast of the soft pink hearts against the dark skulls gives the card a perfect Halloween vibe while keeping it playful.

Spinner Element: The spinner aspect of this card is what makes it extra fun! I used the Sweet Stacks Ovals to create an oval window in the center of the card. To assemble the spinner, I attached the clear thread to the top and bottom of the card base, securing it tightly with tape. For added stability, I pulled the thread ends to another area of the card base, secured them again with tape, and then trimmed off any excess. Finally, I adhered the top panel to the card front, sandwiching the thread between two layers of cardstock. This clever construction allows the bat to spin freely when the card is opened, adding a playful, interactive element that’s sure to delight!

    Sentiment:
The sentiment "I'm batty about you" was stamped using the Bee Creative Intense Black Ink onto a piece of pink cardstock. I then die-cut it using the coordinating Sweet Halloween Dies and adhered it below the spinner window.

    Finishing Touches:
To add a bit of sparkle, I embellished the card with the Sweet & Spooky Gem Stickers from the new Falloween Release. These stickers add just the right amount of shine to make the card pop.

Halloween Cards, Interactive Cards, Spinner Cards, Honey Bee Stamps, Lovely Layers Dies, Falloween Release, Bat Themed Cards, Handmade Cards, Cardmaking, Craft Blog, Paper Crafting, DIY Greeting Cards, Instagram Hop, Halloween Crafts, Papercraft Inspiration,

This "Batty for You" spinner card is a delightful way to celebrate the Halloween season, and it’s sure to bring a smile to anyone who receives it. I hope this inspires you to create your own spooky-cute spinner card!
