Bad Influence Birthday Card | Honey Bee Stamps

Hello Friends!

I hope you all are doing well. Seeing that most of us are under quarantine these days, I figured this card was very appropriate for the times. I don't know about you all but I am a stress eater, so needless to say I have probably not been making the best diet choices these days, combined with the fact that besides going to work the exercise that my body is getting is a lot less. Thus I fear the quarantine 15 may be true! If you had been following me during Kathy Racoosin's Coloring Challenge you would have seen this little piggy on Day 30 in my stories. So let's talk about the rest of the card.

CARD DETAILS

To begin I stamped out all the images below from the BAD INFLUENCE and the PIECE OF CAKE set onto Neenah paper and then colored them in using Copic Markers. I then used the coordinating BAD INFLUENCE DIES and the PIECE OF CAKE DIES to cut them out. To the images, I added white gel and shimmer details using gel pens and then added glossy accents to the piggy's nose and hooves, and the icing on the cakes.

While the glossy accents dried I then created the background. I used Atelier Inks to blend out the blue of the sky and then used the RADIANT BACKGROUND STENCIL to add the yellow rays in the background. For the grass, I used the GRASS BORDER DIE to cut out a layer for the bottom part of the card and then blended out the green ink and distresses it with water droplets.

Next, I stamped out the sentiments from the BAD INFLUENCE set and then started to piece all the layers of the card together.

For a finishing touch, I added the tiny little hearts from the yellow package of the RAINBOW DELUXE SEQUIN SET along the sun rays.

I hope you are all well and hopefully taking better care for yourself than I am, although I have to say I have used my treadmill a lot more in the past few weeks then I have in the last year. Repeat Stamping and Coloring with Pencils on Kraft | Honey Bee Stamps

OMG, you guys this picture makes me so happy! The colors, the images, but most of all happy because I think have overcome my fear of coloring with pencils, and that's what excites me the most!


CARD DETAILS

If you all have been following my coloring on Instagram for Kathy Racoosin's Daily Marker Challenge you would have seen some sneak peeks of the cupcake card as I posted a speed coloring video of the process. I had so much fun practicing and was loving the results that I had to make some more.

So here is the cupcake yumminess card that started my new love of pencils, and by the way, I used Prismacolor Pencils for all my cards today. For this card, I stamped out the cupcake and the cherries from the PIECE OF CAKE stamp set using Versafine Onyx Black Ink and a stamping Block for quick stamping.  To color the images in I began by laying down the darkest color first and then the white highlight area then layered on a lighter color to blend out the two. I then repeated the steps to add more pigment. Once there is enough wax left behind from the pencils the wax begins to blend quite nicely with a little more pressure. I used medium pressure for the first layers and then would end with harder pressure. I am by no means an expert and consider myself a beginner but I did like the result I achieved.

To make these images pop even further, I went back over all the black lines with a very sharp tip using the black Prismacolor pencil.

To finish off this card I stamped out the sentiment below from the ONE OF A KIND set and die cut it using the coordinating ONE OF A KIND Honey Cut set.

I couldn't resist using the cutest Bee's, from the HAPPY FALL Y'ALL set for my next card. Here again, I used Versafine Onyx Black ink and stamped out all the images using a stamping block and then again repeated the same coloring process as above starting with the darkest color and then ending with the lightest. I used the same principles as I would if I was using alcohol markers, the only thing that is different was laying down the white highlight first as I was working with Kraft paper instead of a white paper. To make these really pop once again I went back over the lines with a very sharpened black pencil.

Just to give you an idea of how long it took, each full-sized bodied bee took about 10 mins to color. So needless to say, this card took a couple of days and a few sessions to complete as I didn't have the time to do it all in one sitting. But just look at how cute it turned out!!!

For the sentiment, I used the Happy Beeday greeting from the HI HONEY stamp set and then used the HI HONEY Coordinating Honey Cuts to die cut them out.

For this last card, I pulled out the SHINE ON set, one of my favorite girlie Honey Bee Stamp sets. Again using the same techniques mentioned above. This time to make coloring quicker and because I had learned some things from the previous cards, I first laid down the white pencil highlight layer to all the areas I wanted to highlight and then added the other colors. 

  

The Sparkle On sentiment comes from the SHINE ON set, and the "your birthday" comes from the WISH set.

I hope these cards inspire you to pull out your pencils and play with them as mine had just been collecting dust for the past few years!

A Sweet Happy Bee-lated Birthday Card | Honey Bee Stamps

Happy Monday Friends! 

Today I have a really fun card to share with you featuring a ton of Honey Bee Stamp sets. I thought it would be fun to pair the Blah Humbunny with his stuffed little belly surrounded by sweet treats to make a Bee-lated birthday card. I know it's way too punny but I couldn't help myself 😂 I will also be sharing this card on the HBS Blog if you want to head over there.

CARD DETAILS

To begin I stamped the cupcake and the slice of cake from the Pice of  Cake set, onto a card front then stamped all the other images on a separate piece of paper Neenah cardstock. The rest of the images I used come from Mae the Mouse, and the Birds and the Bees sets.  I then colored all the stamped images in using Copic markers and then die cut them with their coordinating dies.

For the card front sentiment, I used a few sets to come up with the final greeting. The "Happy" and the "- lated" come from the Lily the Lamb set. The "BEE" comes from the Hi Honey set and the "I can explain..." comes from the Blah HumBunny set. I love how the Honey Bee sets all work well together to build your own sentiments.

Once my scene was complete and my pieces were all glued down and popped into place, I added Liquid Pixie Dust to the cupcake and the bee's wings for sparkle and then added a layer of glossy accents and set the card front off to dry.

To the inside of the card, I added the Bunny's excuse by stamping out the "I love my Sweets" sentiment that comes from the Brie Mine stamp set. 

Once the card front was dry, I added it with foam tape to a Large Scalloped frame that I had die cut and glued to the card base.  And that pretty much completed the card.
